1982 Mitsubishi Colt Galant 2000 2l 5sp GLX
MOT: November 2014
Tax: No (but can)
Mileage: 44,800
Location: East Sussex
Basic:
Starts, runs, drives, MOT’d, good running order, needs tidying up and leaks in heavy rain.
More details:
Apparently the last 2000 Estate in the UK. I was going to use its running gear in another project, however I ended up having a soft spot for this instead! I spent some money welding up the bad bits (roof, front inner arches, rear lower arches) and got it on the road. It has been welded and not pugged, however it remains in primer. She drives fine, goes through the gears, smooth power steering and stops as she should. If you live in Inverness and plan to drive it the 625 miles home, I’ve every confidence you’d make it. Heater is toasty, comfy seats, MOT’d until November 2014 and there’s even a working period FM radio and cassette player. Fun, practical rear wheel drive estate.
Structurally the car is sound and has been ziebarted underneath. The engine pulls well and mechanically seems OK. Serviced and cambelt changed 800 miles ago but this was in 2006 so she would benefit from a tune up. No proof of the mileage but I’d say it was accurate. First owner from 1982 until 2013, then her estate after her death and then me. I have the V5 and MOT certificate.
Cosmetically the car needs tidying up all round as it has swapped paint with most of Yorkshire (where it spent its life before coming south). Exterior is scruffy, doors are a bit frilly, there’s a hole n/s/f wing (not MOT failure), general dents and scrapes and the vinyl roof is torn. In heavy rain there’s a leak from one of the door seals but I can’t work out which one. Since it sits in storage I’ve currently got the carpet up and passenger seat out so they don’t turn gross, however I can put it back together for the new owner.
Ideal running project. Tidy it up as you go. Can tax at cost. Anyone interested in taking her on?
£700 or throw me an offer. E-mail via here or James on 07933 641790.
