_______________
I've owned my 126 since collecting it from Suffolk in October 2012. It has been dry stored since at least 1998, I am unsure of the ten years preceding, but by condition-wise I'd say it's been dry stored it's entire life.
It was undersealed by the first owner upon buying new (so I was told) and is solid underneath EXCEPT for a badly corroded jacking point which I had a garage weld up earlier this week at a cost of £144.00
The car starts on the button everytime even during winter, although I don't drive it much during as I don't like to get it wet! I don't actually NEED a car! It runs perfectly and never skips a beat. I removed the thermostat (All BIS owners recommend it) to prevent it from failing and overheating. It takes a little longer to warm up obviously, however I NEVER drive it until it's warmed up for at least 4-5 minutes.
I originally planned to take it to the retro show and RRG this year (as I couldn't last year) with it lowered and with wide wheels etc. however I'm now going traveling for at least two years after summer, so not only will I need the money, but there will be no-one to look after and maintain the car.
Since owning, I have:
-Replaced coil (have original one still as a spare)
-Installed Facet SS electronic fuel pump
-Installed Pro-Flow fuel regulator
-Replaced fuel lines with braided ones
-Removed and flushed out fuel tank
-Coolant flush and change with Green Coolant at 50/50 inc. 'Water Wetter'
-Oil change and filter clean
-Replaced alternator belt
-Replaced points
-Replaced condensor
-Rewired ignition wiring from coil etc. with high temp wires
-Replaced vacuum hoses with reinforced ones
-Changed gearbox oil
-Re-sprayed front and rear bumpers
-Bought pressed metal numberplates
-Removed thermostat (will never overheat, I have brand new replacement included in sale, they aren't cheap!)
-Changed spark plugs and HT leads
-Replaced drive shaft rubber boots
-Checked (didn't need adjusting) valve gaps
-Installed re-usable/washable glass fuel filter
-Bought locking fuel cap (original has no lock!)
-Fixed the easher jets which weren't working
I have removed the rear wiper and covered holes with black rubber gromits as it looks ten times better and the rear wiper is absolutely pointless. I still have everything for the new owner to put back if they like.
Still have:
-Original number plates (which were on when I bought)
-Original coil can be used as spare
-Brand new thermostat for anyone who wants to put it back on (I wouldn't)
-Reinforced vacuum hose clipping can be used as spare
-Original Fiat tool kit (rare!) howevere I think a few tools are missing
-Original mechanical fuel pump + push rod (god knows why anyone would want it back on)
-Original fuel cap
I also have a set of brand new unused rear shocks + bushes for older models, which are used as shorter shocks up front on BIS's to get a huge slam on the front, £50 extra if anyone wants! They cost £90 otherwise!
GOOD POINTS-
This car is an absolute wonder to drive, it turns more heads and gets more smiles than my old mega-slammed Renault 5 on wide wheels did! It is one serious head turner and apparently there are only 110 left on the road in the UK. If you can get over the fact the 2cyl 700cc engine is slow uphill, you wont have any complaints! I can get into any parking space and make everyone jealous! Driving it in the sunshine is absolutely amazing especially around Devon when the other classic cars are out and about. It also apparently does 45mpg, not sure how accurate that is but I rarely fill it up.
It's so easy to work on as it's so simple, I myself have learned so much about engines and car workings just from servicing and problem solving on this thing.
I have a load of service history and also the manaul and parts info on a data CD.
Spare set of keys
The refubished (by me, fancied a challege) x19 Bertone 'Phone Dial' alloys have almost new Nankang tyres all round, as does four of the five original steel wheels. Both sets of wheels has a spare.
BAD POINTS-
There is a nick in the seatbelt (nothing major at all, however it was an advisory on MOT)
There is some slight orange rusty bits coming through on a couple of the arches and o/d sill (see pics) and there is a corrosion spot under the windscreen above the vent (see pics, common occurance for these models)
A previous owner has done a pretty crappy job of touching up the paintwork on the bonnet, front panel and scutter pannel under windscreen where I was told kids threw stones at the car! (see pics)
Light corrosion patch on inside of drivers door
The Paintwork isn't amaxing, various scuffs and orange bits coming through but only visable up close
The clip which holds the drivers seat down is missing (never bothered me, but I think it was an advisory)
The front Fiat badge has a crack in it
At the bottom of the boot lid, just underneath some rusty spots are coming through
If anyone is interested, please contact me via PM or ring me on 07955374527 but DON'T leave a voice message as my network doesn't let me access them!
