Doesn't look nearly hairy enough to be a Samoyed. Looks like a bit like something crossed with a Westie?
"Ahhhhhhhhh"
My sis had a Samoyd - nowt like that - deffo a cross.
he looks like a very pale Labrador, maybe he needs a bit of sunshine......
George,
Not an expert on dogs by any means but that looks like a pavement special to me.
What ever it is I am sure the bottle openers will make short work of it if it becomes too large, might even keep them satiated for more than an hour if it is wrapped in banana leaves....
What ever it is cute. Aaaaahhh.
P.
These are more your typical Manila street dogs
A bit more investigation and I think what we've got is a 'Puppy Mill Special". These things, reputedly part Lab, are sold for around PHP800 on street corners dotted around the city so give
village a prize. Modded dogs huh, who'd have thought it?
When we acquired him you'd have said he could have been a part grown chihuahua, he was that thin, but he's banging the weight on now. I guess we'll just have to see what is turns out like and negotiate 'special approval' accordingly. He seems a happy little soul though. Not really surprising as the girls have decided that he needs to eat the same quantity and with the same regularity as they do! I've had to clamp down on them throwing in an order of fried chicken and rice from Jollibee, just for the dog!
Huge congrats on the contract mate. So pleased for you (and the fact that it should provide plenty more content here for me to read).
Looking forward to seeing this progress and how the Country deals with a project being approved and then actually being completed....
I imagine that there will be some crazy times ahead.
Thank you and I'm guessing you imagine correctly
This job should be straightforward:-
Throw two 550m load/unload sidings into the port with appropriate pointwork;
Lay 5.km of track up a busy main road, relocating 100+ power masts, a police station, council hall, 600 squatter families and a market;
Reinstate some track that runs through the middle of a shopping mall;
Connect up to the mainline at Tutuban;
Refurbish 50-odd kms of dying track. This is not our job and I've timed our operation to run on it as is. It could be a few years before this ever happens;
Install a new passing loop;
Install points and track to the inland terminal;
Tender and order rolling stock (new locos and wagons);
Set up the Operating and Maintenance company;
Recruit and train staff;
Test and commission;
Trial run;
Be running a service in less that 30 months;
Later, specify and install a complete signalling system, including control of 90+ level crossings.
What could possibly go wrong?
Good news on the railway front......AAAAAAAAAAhhhhh cute little dog - now!
Yup, getting my railway mojo back now after it took a bit of a dent last month and looking forward to getting stuck in.
...following a meeting yesterday we now have full approval of everybody, up to and including, the President hisself.
Hurrah! That is good news. Well done!
we are allowed max 2 dogs which must weigh no more that 5kg each.
Ahhh!
Five kilos?! What sort of dog can you get for 5kg? Our cat is 4kg.
By the way, when you take pooch for walkies... If you keep coming back with an unusually grubby dog and an unusually shiny Range Rover you'll get found out.
Funnily enough, we seem to have dropped down a bit on the mentalness at the moment, unless you count this week's story that Madam's family have engaged a Voodoo practitioner (and I kid you not) to ensure she dies/goes mad.
Forgive me for coming over all serious now. Sometimes I can't help it, sorry.
It's all very well me sitting here thinking "voodoo, what rubbish" but rubbish or otherwise if you believe it, or are from a culture where belief is common, it could well have a negative effect. If you believe or suspect something bad might happen then the worry can be worse than the actual event.
So how are Madam and the Bottle Openers taking this? Are they ok about it?
Sounds like a 50's pop group. "That was Gerry and the Pacemakers, now the great new sound of Madam and the Bottle Openers..."
Serious again... So what's happened between Madam and the rest of the family to cause all this bad feeling? It's a very strange relationship. I can't help wondering if it's jealousy because she's living with relatively rich westerner?
James
PS Please feel free to reply "mind your own business you nosy git!" I won't be offended. I'm being quite cheeky asking.
Agree James, as I said there are Tondo rats that weigh more!
We've had some long chats about this voodoo malarkey, as it's alive and well in the Philippines. What doesn't help is that Madam spent some time on the Ivory Coast and believes that she's seen the effect of it there, when someone supposedly put a curse on her boss. So not easy. One good thing is that she has a diamond ring and apparently this reflects any curse right back at atcha! The things you find out. Every day's a school day.
And just to remind you of the reasons behind all this, the whole sorry tale can be found starting here-
retrorides.proboards.com/thread/157765/1995-range-rover-p38-hse?page=21But to summarise:
Send her to work overseas for 20+ years;
Demand most of her income;
Do nothing to help themselves (why when the dosh is rolling in?);
We buy Tondo house, they live there for free;
We arrive to live in Manila eight years later;
They immediately stop paying any utility bills out of the money she gives them saying that now we're here, we can do that
Makes sister manager of her water shop - sister, not used to work, decides that stealing the takings is an easier option;
Madam not too impressed when she finally realises what's been happening;
Sister sacked;
Family see writing on the wall and go a bit mental, steal and pawn some of her jewellery, bankrupt a business we'd given them, assault the girls (last straw for me);
Get injunction to evict them from
our house;
Madam gets herself shot - this was pre-voodoo!;
All downhill from there basically
Turns out she's not part of the family anyway (I always did wonder, she resembles none of them and can spell W-O-R-K) and was taken in when she was young with the specific intention of making her the breadwinner. Cynical, or what?
Anyway, now the worm has turned, they ain't very happy. I'm sure that jealousy has played a large part, but I think that the killer was us coming to live here. Whilst we were overseas, they could spin any old story to get some extra, but now even the White Guy has stopped playing his expected role and their idle, shiftless, useless little world has come to an abrupt end.
Sad but true and from what I understand, very far from an isolated case.
