One from NZ Thats low! Loving yours Dez, fancy doing Chloe? I call photoshop, unless theres a 4" hole in the floor for the sump and X-memeber even if he'd taken the front springs out, the front would sit 6" higher than that with that size tyre. either that, or its channelled. ive already got one guy asking me to do his, thing is with the amount of work involved to do it, especially the rear end, itll cost about 750-800 to drop one, which is more than most people paid for theirs in the first place! still its probably less than dropping a vw the same amount.....

until I can find a donor 740/760/940/960 vulva with a 2.3 16v turbo lump for this and a 4.10 ratio lsd rear axle for the merc I wish you luck, the 16v turbo (only in 2.0 form) never came to the UK So you'd have to go for an 8v block and 16v head and there are some issues with that iirc. 16v's don't necessarily produce more power anyway - most of its just for pimp value Best choice would be a late 940 B230FK block which has oil squirters and 13mm conrods, as its low boost it will have had a very easy life! That Commer stance though... sits perfectly

That one from NZ is a pshop. Look at the shadow at the rear, much longer than the front bumper one is, there's other clues too!

Brilliant, i was never that keen on Commers as the axles looked so narrow, and it was always old folk ot BT engineers i saw in em! I'm really feeling the love for em now though, we know all too well anything can be fixed with modded springs and some choice wheels and accessories. Looks ace!

When you say 'spring over axle' do you mean like this: And basically you fit the axle on top instead of underneath the leaf spring to make it 'spring under axle'? I guess you need to use extremely strong U bolts to keep it in place then? Any other mods needed - i'd guess shorter shocks would be one thing required. Front suspension on the LT looks like this: Can't see that you'd be able to take much out of the springs as there arn't that many coils. And looks like the shocks are inside the coils too. Now where's that mig welder gone.....only kidding

yes thats spring over axle. youre absoloutely fine using normal suspension grade (10 or higher) U-bolts for axle over setups. but to be honest mate, youre rear suspension setup, especially the leafs, look totally shagged!
id also wager your front bumpstops are so close to the arm cos your front springs are sagging, thats very close for a stock setup, the commer has more than that now ive lowered it 4"!!

some of the mods required to get the commer this low- it actually sits about 1.5" lower at the back now than it was in the pics don't worry about the size of the notch, it has box section welded onto the chassis rails from above for re-enforcement. you can also see the 'diff bulge' in the floor in the pics, made out of one of the old hubcaps ile post pics of the other bits I had to do when I get chance.

You wanna see how it leans in the corners too - feels like its gonna topple over I've gotta say i was looking at it the other day and wondering why the springs bend upwards when i was sure that they should bend the other way. Looks like it runs on the rear bumpstops all the time too, unless its supposed to be like that. Hmm, what to do next
