;D Epic day at Fuji Speedway today for the JCCA Fuji Jamboree Full Gallery will be FTPing its way to Hotwire shortly once I work out how not to kill his server again Now I met some great people today...... ;D One of whom (pit crew to a very lovely and fast 510 sss coupe) came and found me later about a 510 coupe for sale did I want to have a look ?? ;D (we had been talking about them) went and had a look as it was on the back of a transporter ;D No Paperwork, no bumpers or grill and no engine and box, but the shell is totally straight and rot free, interior is all there and nice and period ;D all the chrome trim is still present and correct as well ;D Oh and its the prettier early full rear light one as well ;D Now question is.........Engines and boxes..... Very tempted to go the 200sx SR20DET route 200hp turbo starting point, but how much work is that and what are the other options ? I know nothing about them other than I really like them and want one badly What Diffs can be swapped in as I`d need an LSD for sure ? What bits Should I be looking for while I am out here as well All help gratefully recieved and i`ll get some pics of it up shortly as well Cheers Dom PS Pics of nice 510 coupes more than welcome ;D

Information about 510s..... they're worth a lot in America. They are also astonishingly attractive!!
What I would do is keep it with an NA Nissan motor, what about a CA18DE? Could probably get one of them mega cheap out of a crashed old Silvia S13 Q/Js!

My favourite car in the world ever. The 510 coupe is superb! But stay away from that one. You should be able to find yourself a really nice example for £5k with a tuned engine, needing nothing.
That brown coupe (140) is the epitome of 510s! Perfect. Great pics. Thanks.

Charlie I`ll upset you now and tell you this one is no where near £5K ;D For that money I could have it shipped over here on Decent rims with an SR20det fitted ;D The shell is excellent too, no filler in the arches or sills at all

No Paperwork..................... You'll have trouble getting it out of Japan as a 'car' without a de-registration document, and therefore you'll have trouble registering it in the UK as well ( I trust you don't want it on a 'Q@ plate, and with all that goes with that? ). Shipping a non-runner ( even if it is a roller ) is also much more expensive than a car that will start and can be driven, for obvious reasons. Try to send it Ro-Ro as a non-runner and it'll probably turn up in the UK with fork-lift scars underneath it......... With the current favourable exchange rate, why go off half-cocked and buy a 'project' when you can do a bit of shopping around and buy a running car with a good ( modified ) spec that's already near to what you want. Buy a car that is just coming up for its 'Shakken' and you'll get it a lot cheaper too ( you don't need the car to have a current 'Shakken' if you are going to export it ). Buy a car from one of the more reputable dealers and you'll be able to negotiate a cheaper price than they would ask for a normal Japanese sale, as they have to do less work ( no 'Shakken', no new registration on owner change etc etc ). Some dealers might not have experience of export sales and will therefore need a little persuasion, but you can handle most of the formalities yourself if you do a little homework and the shipping company you use will take care of half of it anyway. Obata san at 'Refresh 60' in Yokohama will find you a good one. The cream-coloured car with the little Monte Carlo stickers on the doors that you saw at Fisco is one that he preps. He's one of the good guys.

It's just a shell. The point is that you should not buy it, as for only £5k you can find a complete working great condition example already lowered with tuned engine that you can drive around in and ship back to the UK. No need to do anything to it. <p> And the cost of adding an SR20det, box, LSD, wheels, lowering, fettling, sourcing missing parts is going to cost you a lot - in both money and time. <p> You can find loads of 510 coupes for sale in Nostalgic Hero mag, on carsensor.net and plenty of other places. Why buy a shell? Get hunting for a sorted one and let your credit card help you out. Charlie
