The time has come to sell my UK 1.6 1992 Mazda MX5. I’ve owned it for a few years and it’s been a great little car that runs really well.
It’s covered just over 100k with the last service by myself in March last year. It also had a cambelt change in September at 97109 miles
The car is standard apart from being lowered on adjustable FK coilovers.
The interior is clean and tidy with no rips, tears or cigarette burns to the seats. There is a very small amount of wear to the drivers bolster, but this is barely noticeable.
The car has MOT until 20th October 2014 and road tax until the end of April.
The underbody is in very good condition with no rust whatsoever. Last year I undersealed the rear arches end and chassis rails for added protection.
The outer body is also in good condition with no rust. There is a dent to the drivers side wing and a few parking dings to the drivers door but these aren’t too bad. The paintwork is flat, however has a good shine when polished.
The soft top is in good condition. It has been professionally repaired in the past. The roof itself doesn’t leak, however the seal between the roof and windscreen top can leak in heavy rain, I find keeping this greased stops leaks, however replacement would be better.
There are a couple of issues with the car but nothing that a weekend wouldn’t fix. These haven’t stopped me using this daily.
The drivers electric window is a little slow, I think the runners need cleaning and greasing.
The exhaust has a slight blow from the mid section
The tyres have good tread however the side walls are cracked so I would recommend replacing
The engines pulls really well, has no rattles and does not smoke. On inspection during the cambelt change it was noted there was very little wear to the camshafts and followers.
All in all, this is a reliable, ready to use MX5 that with a weekend’s work would be a really smart looking example. It is a UK car so cheaper on insurance and also come with a Thatcham CAT1 immobiliser
