Like most here, my main perversion is old cars....The Frencher the better (although '70s/'80s J stuff, and lately B.L/Austin Rover appeals too)....But there is a need in our household for something modern aswell....Something practical and comfortable....Hopefully DEPENDABLE too! A month or two ago, when looking to replace my excellent, but ageing (and, if I'm honest, a trifle dull) '96 Volvo S40 1.8 SE with a new shape Renault Laguna, I met and fell in love with this.... '99 Rover 75 2.5 V6 Connoisseur SE Auto ;D ....And I have to say, It's a helluva car! It's handsome, imposing, powerful, economical (relatively : , well built, and equipped with just about every gizmo You can think of!....The interior is a wonderful place to be, a world of luxury and serenity, yet You can hear just enough of that wonderful engine note (sounds more like a V8 to me ) to keep You smiling! There's just one thing....It looks a little "Under-Wheeled" to me....The alloys fitted are 15" on 205/65 R15s, but I reckon it needs at least 17 inchers to look right....I quite like these.... Fox R3s ....What do Y'all think? Would these look good? I realise that larger diameter rims on lower profile tyres would probably have a slightly adverse affect on the (excellent) ride quality, but asthetically it needs them I think! All opinions/suggestions (preferably accompanied by pics ) are welcomed! Cheers....

So, you're not worrying so much about the economy now eh?!
I did see a 75 on wheels like those recently, and it looked better than I thought it might. I do think it needs something quite 'busy' and angular to go with its slightly old-fashioned look.

I think they're a fine choice. The car looks lovely too, by the way.

Another 75 owner! My girlfriend and I bought one 18 months ago and whilst it hasn't always been 100% reliable, its got a lovely charm about it. Its so laid back and comfortable to drive, and prices are super low now. Yours looks tidy mate and those wheels should suit it well.

I think that would be a most excellent move Baz. I do really like the style of those r1mZ.
What's the quality of 'Fox' wheels like? And can you live with the harsher ride that a lo-pro is going to give? Just might be a shame to spoil the 'waftiness' of the Rowva.....

I wouldn't go for too low pro tyres on those 17s.Something like 215/50 would look good. One of my pet hates is big cars riding high on low-pro tyres.

Rover 75s are definitely gonna be sought after in a few years time - 100% future retro, and I think the best car produced by MG Rover. I think those rims would look excellent

Those things are so much like a shaguar, exactly what Rover should of stuck with, now our Britsh gents car is a chinese one! Those rims i was eyeballing at Halfrauds, and lookinging up on the net just yesterday!!! dead tempted with em for my new project, however they look a *little* cheap, nothing to worry about and i could not find any offset or PCD info about em, so i guess that would be asked when i have the spondoolies ready for em

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Unless you can find one of the monster V8s!! They can't have made many before they went bump.

So, you're not worrying so much about the economy now eh?! No....The car has grown on me to such an extent that I don't really CARE that it's a little thirstier than I was led to believe it would be....I'm keeping it now, even if it bankrupts me! Been out in it today....Driving it chills me right out.... I think that would be a most excellent move Baz. I do really like the style of those r1mZ. What's the quality of 'Fox' wheels like? And can you live with the harsher ride that a lo-pro is going to give? Just might be a shame to spoil the 'waftiness' of the Rowva..... Stopped in at Halfrauds today to look at the rims in the "flesh"....They're not quite of the quality of some, but then they're not the price of some either! Looks like I could get a set of 17 inchers on 205/40 tyres for about £460, or extra if I want Toyo tyres instead of crappy ones! I'd probably go for the crappy ones, with a view to changing to decent quality ones all round once the fronts wear out....I like Toyos (I used to run them on My Alfa 156) but find that they wear a little quickly - I don't need such sticky tyres nowadays! Having seen the rims, I'm 99% sure that they're what I'm going to go for should I decide to go for big alloys....Reckon they'll look just nice on there....But as You suggest Mr.Pog, I have to decide whether the compromise to the ride quality, and probably steering characteristics will be sufficiently compensted for by it's sexy looks!

i actually like these rovers.. IMHO i think that rover kinda lost there class when the sd1 was produced.. (don't get me wrong i love the sd1 and own one its one of my fave' cars..) but with the 75 i think towards the end they were well built and very good brittish cars.. it all came too late though really but i think it maybe some of the best money spent in a modern... just my 2p... si

Love 'em, got a certain British feel to them and they just look 'right'. Also one of the only cars that looks right with the full leather and wood gubbins.

Thought I'd reply before this thread gets lost. I like these too - especially the Tourer - a great shape. You should do a j style VIP one with deep dish 18s, very low suspension and neg camber. Buy it now!!
