Good Evening…I am still not sure I want to do this…but with myself and my good friend, whom I own the car with, both spending more time working overseas than in the UK, it seems a shame to have this sat in a garage and not being used…so I suppose I am having one of those ‘sensible moments’ and am going to offer her for sale…
So she is a 1963 Ford Taunus 17m ts…it was not available to buy in the UK, and was produced by the German division of Ford, which at this time, produced completely different cars to the rest of the Ford division! The closest Ford to the P3 model available in the UK at that time of year would have been the Consul Corsair, however no parts were the same! Have no fear though, parts are still very easy to come by in Germany and I can give you contact details of a very helpful dealer.
We imported the car in early 2012, went through the whole braking system as this was seized and fitted all new parts. We serviced the engine and put her through her MOT. Which will be due in June 2014…she has not been used since the MOT, only run up periodically. The Taunus is very solid having been waxoiled underneath from new and there is no rust on the car, maybe a little surface rust where she has suffered the odd knock in its life, which adds to the character!
Engine cc is 1698 and runs on unleaded. The interior features a bench seat up front and has a column shift. The interior is in very good condition and everything, including the period radio works as it should. Mileage of the car is 16483 KMs…she has had a very easy life, the previous owner kept her tucked up in the garage since new, it then came to us via a dealer and has spent again, all of our ownership in a garage…if my memory serves me correct we are the third owners. We also have a lot of original documents with the car, including the original bill of sale.
Anyway, I could go on all day about this car, but it won’t do me any good as it makes me want to keep it even more..! The car has so much potential for customisation if this is your thing…pinstripping, ARE’s, V8…or just enjoy it as it is, a very quaint, unusual classic car that will and does draw a lot of attention wherever it goes.
I am finding it hard to put a price on the Taunus as it is not something there are a lot of to compare it too…so on the basis that it is a very low mileage, very solid, rust free, rare useable classic car, I would say a fair estimation of price is around the £5500 mark. I am a reasonable chap though…so if you are seriously interested and want to come and view the car and chat, then let me know and we can talk.
Not looking to PX and not in a real rush to sell, I really will happily hang onto her, but it is holding up the restoration progress on my old man’s Karmann Ghia now, as I have it in the garage alongside that, so although he doesn’t mind, I should get it out of his way!
Best to email or call me, email is lawrencerandell@gmail.com or call or text me on 0033640441738…this is my French contact number, so I am happy to call you back.
Viewing is available in Hawkinge, Kent, courtesy of my old man.
For some reason I did not get any photos of the boot, which is vast! I will get a photo of this and can provide photos of any other areas required to serious parties.
