One of my elderly neighbours came round in tears to see me yesterday. The story goes that her her Micra that she has owned since it was 18 months old had recently been brought back to her after she had lovingly given it to her grandson only three months ago. She had given it to him as his first car and it had hitherto been meticulously maintained by the local village garage and had been so since she bought it. However, it had been brought back because the engine had been "making a noise". The mechanic at the garage who had looked after the car for the last 26 was a bit miffed as in the space of three months, the little car had been run by grandson with no oil and hence run the bearings. I was asked for my opinion and I confirmed that this is the case. She was very upset that "Alastair" as she called him had been broken after all the years that she had looked after him, in such a short time. Her husband had told her to get rid of him and phoned the local scrap dealer. I had been asked did I know anyone who would want the car and would repair it as she was very upset by all this and was horrified that it would be crushed and hoped that someone would fix the engine so that it could give service to someone else. As far as I know (and I am only doing this to help a neighbour and don't want anything for this), there are no known faults with the car other than the aforementioned engine and it still has an mot on it. It drives, as the engine isn't seized, but it knocks. The interior is immaculate and the bodywork that you can see from the pics, still sports its original panels and 1980's decals. I wanted it for my daughter, but I have five cars here already and its just not viable for me at the moment. If anyone is genuinely interested in the car please call me on my mobile, all you have to do is offer more than the scrap man offered as it really is a nice little car.. The car is based near St.Helens, Merseyside.
