Anybody know of a place in Nottinghamshire that does vulcanised repairs?
Have a chunk out of a sidewall with a nearly new tyre, no damage has gone through the the other side though.

well I sell and install a product called puncture safe so no a fair bit about tyres and I can tell you that no garage will repair sidewall damage as the structure of the tyre has been comprmised

Garages might not mate, but I can tell you for a fact that side wall vulcanisation is a safe repair and more importantly legal.
Its not a puncture repair, its a form of rubber welding and the integrity of the structure is not compromised.
This is a £200 tyre and for the sake of a £20 repair its worth having done in my opinion, I know places outside of the Midlands, just wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations in or around Nottingham.

Truck or industrial tyre places might be more familiar with this type of repair

I work in a tyre garage and side wall repair on a car is a big no no.only time I've ever seen it done is on agricultural things etc.on a car the side wall flexes so eventually the repair will leak.in my opinion it's not safe on a car

Surely if you know of places then you can always take it there ?
Can't you send it by courier there and back to avoid taking in person ?

The main reason why most places don't do it from what I know is because they either haven't got the equipment or they'd rather sell someone a new or used tyre. |

Paul H Yeah, I'll need to, just thought it was worth asking to see if I could get it sorted asap mate. By the time I've couriered it both ways I'm looking at next weekend at the earliest, searched google and yell with no luck but there's always that little known place/unknown to yourself where someones been to that crops up and thought it was worth seeing if someone had one of those to post up. Always worth an ask and with the info that's been posted it might help others seen as though a lot of people, including those who deal with tyres obviously believe sidewall damage is unrepairable. No point in chucking away a brand new/expensive tyre if you don't need to, ay. |
