Damn this retro model modifying malareky is hard! I picked up a set of these wheels (sorry for pinching the image MarkBognor!):
but silver, and apparently "narrow" although they still seem very wide, for this:
So far I've had to:
- Cut out and move the inner arches further in (need to fill the gaps left still)
- Shorten the axle by chopping a section out
- Trim off some of the outside of the brake disc so it will fit under the wheel
- Cut out the petrol tank, and the spare wheel well as they're now in the way of where the leaf springs will be mounted to accomodate the shortened axle (need to relocate and fill in)
- Shorten the leaf springs so they fit to the different mounting points on the chassis (still need to make up some spacers and stuff)
Not even started on the front yet! Really makes me appreciate how had this kinda thing must be on real cars! Anyway, I'm not likely to want the wheels that came in the kit, are they any use to anyone? They're 1/25 scale 5 spokes, quite narrow.
