Spent today messing about with the ride height on my amazon, and i have come to the conclusion that for the look i want, that i cant achieve it with 15" wheels (unless i drive it on the bump stops...). so i reckon a step up to 17" wheels is on the cards...
my origional intention was to re-rim my existing wheels with some wider donors from the scrappy...i have a mate who is an excellent welder by trade, so he was going to weld these up for me..being steel..
Annoyingly steel wheels just arent made in 17" so i cant mess around making some centres up for some 17" rims... so my next thought is alloy wheels...
My main question is can the outer rim of a cast alloy wheel be welded to a custom made billet centre (alu alloy again) safely?
I can take care of all the machining work in a workshop myself...but i am not so sure of the safety of it all?
The centre would be welded to the outer rim with two continuous TIG welds... the welds here arent what are in question...as they will be top notch...more the idea itself!
I cant quite make my mind up about wether this is safe or not..??
