History
I bought this car in June last year as I needed something cheaper to run than my old Mk3 GTI. I have recently bought a small van for work so this is now surplus to requirements. I will be sad to see this go as its been 100% reliable during my ownership. As to be expected given the mileage and history, this little gem really does drive like new. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere. Gets around 40MPG, cheap tax and handles motorway speeds no problems. I've done around 8,000 miles in it - 100% trouble free! So rare to see a totally unmolested one of these nowadays, no holes inside, no coilovers - as VW intended!
Body
3dr shell with Britax dealer fitted sunroof. Finished in a quite a rare shade of purple. Paint is in overall good condition aside from a small knock to the passengers front wing, visible in the pics. There are a few minor scuffs and scratches as should expect to find on a car of this age however, it is generally very clean. No rot or rust and very clean underneath. New windscreen just fitted. Wheels and tyres all good - mixed brands but loads of life. What looks like an unused space saver and jack in boot. Only issue worth mentioning is that its had a replacement boot lid at one stage - this was a different colour and it was only painted on the outside so with the boot open you can see another colour if you look up. I avoided any heartache by not looking up when the boot was open
Interior
Everything works - every button, switch, lever and dial operates as it should, and illuminates if it should - although there aren't many! Cigarette lighter temperamental but 12v socket works fine for sat nav etc. No curious odours or stains. Cloth seats still feel firm, have no rips, no holes, no stains or damage and the Driver's seat bolster hasn't worn through. Doorcards are all in wonderful condition, as is the Dashboard and centre Console. No cracks, no holes from old phone kits or dodgy stereos. Kenwood Radio/CD player included. Carpets are in superb condition. Rear seats look like they've never been used. Boot carpet and parcel shelf are clean and in great condition.
Engine & Servicing
Engine runs perfect. Its used no oil or water during my ownership. I serviced it when I first got it with fuel/oil/air filters, plugs, oil, spark plugs, rotor arm and distributor cap. It had a set of front disks and pads for its last MOT. Starts hot or cold. Idles perfect. Gets around 40mpg. Drives like new - no knocks, squeaks or rattles.
