Well, as the T shirt said, he who dies with the most toys.... Personally I seem to have worked my way up to about 7, although one is for sale (2nd Gen Civic) and the terminally rusty Mk1 Mini will be stripped as soon as the paperwork arrives. However, in you shoes I would keep the Mk1 as it looks like a real nice car. As for the other two though, to me they are both kind of in the same category, in that the earlier versions of both had more shiny bits and looked nicer. But, given the choice, I'd take the E30 any day of the week, much nicer car IMO Ditch the Mk2 and reap the scene tax!

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

Selling the Mk2 is not an option! I'm very attached to it, it's been a great car for me and I've invested a lot of time and money in it with mechanical upgrades such as a 2.0L bottom end, P&P'd head and manifold, lightened flywheel, bigger brakes etc etc. Few more pics, Mk2: Now has these wheels (poor pic): I've not got any more BMW pics at the moment, interesting about what a lot of you say about the E30 being the start of 'rot' in terms of BMW going downhill. I still think it's a great car, admittedly not as much of a 'classic' as the Mk1 but it is 14 years newer! The 325i Sport seems to be about the best 'all round' model for those who can't afford the M3 like me, good noise, quite quick, decent handling, lots of toys, looks good if a little '80's drug dealer'... More Mk1 pics: The 1975 model year original brochure... similar car to mine... There is one page in that brochure I must get a pic of where the car is hooked up to an 'advanced diagnostic computer' which is bigger than the car itself! ;D I think my concern is worrying that with yet another car in my collection will the existing one's suffer and not get the attention they need to keep them in good order. I don't really want to SORN any of them and just store them as I think that'll be the last time I ever use them and they'll deteriorate! It's all my mate's fault who own's the Beemer - I was perfectly happy with two old Golf's 'til he suggested selling the E30...! ;D

My sanity may be restored... read some VW mags this morning and I'm rapidly coming round to thinking I'd be mad to sell the '75 Mk1... it's most likely staying now unless someone offers me an obscene amount of cash! Also, I expect I might buy the BMW as well but the jury is still out for now...

Sell the Mk2 and coin the scene tax Keep the mk1 if it means that much to you And then look around for a decent 325iSE Touring All the beemer good points with more practicality than the Golf Everyones a winner

Some excellent replies! Glad to see I'm not the only one in this predicament - so many cars, so little time, money and space...! Rainking has the right idea, but even the Lupo is a nice model (1.4 16v sport) plus I don't like the idea of my fiancee using any of 'my' cars for work everyday... Any more thoughts? Would I be insane to consider parting with the '75 Golf? you know it makes sense.... the Swallow Tail MUST stay whatever though.... It's the LAW!

Keep the Mk1 WHATEVER HAPPENS!! I'm sure if you buy the BMW(if you can) and can't afford/manage to keep it then you can get your money back selling it on. But keep the Mk1!
