I'm looking into changing the (square) lamps on the Hunter as one is acting up and thought now might be a good time for a revamp
I can sort out the grille and electrics but am looking for advice about lights and mountings.
Option 1
I have the remains of a quad-light setup but some parts are missing.
There's 1 complete light with a bowl, but the other 3 lights are missing the mounting bowl (black in the pic) and the dished bowl that fits to the back of the light (the big dirty grey bit)
Any suggestions where I can get 3 "back of light" dished bowls, and 3 headlamp mounting bowls?
I've got all lamps (5 3/4") and the chrome "front" rings.
I need to make up 4 complete lights, something like the bits here...
There's also some good lighting info on the MG page :
www.mginfo.co.uk/upgrades4mgs/Electrics/mgb_halogen_headlight_upgrades.html
Option 2.
Upgrade the current lamps?
Do all "rectangular" headlights from 60's/70's/80's have a standard fitting?
Will Ford/Vauxhall etc lamps bolt on the Hunter or will I need to adjust/modify/bodge/cabletie the mountings to hold them in?
Am I right in thinking Escort Mk1 rectangular headlights are something like Hunter? Any ideas if exactly same or where I can get dimensions? Mk2 Escort are square so no use to me?
Final questions (for now )
Does anyone know where I can get spare bowls or mountings for 5 1/4" round lamps ( free would be great, not wanting to pay out for 4 new sets )
If I can find or make the missing bowls, any ideas where I can get mounting posts as they are the only bits that I know I can's fabricate myself.
This a fun car being run on a pub-change (slightly less than pocket-money ) budget, I was hoping the quad-lights would be a free upgrade but it's not working out so all* suggestions welcome!
* only polite suggestions this time please. Silly suggestions are always welcome
