Right, I've fitted an interior light delay unit that I bought off ebay to my Berlingo van. It really works a treat, just the job. I then fitted an LED bulb to the interior light only to find the bulb stays on after the delay unit has done its bit, albeit very dimly. Works fine again after reinstating the normal bulb. Anyone got any idea why this is and how to get around it? Thanks in advance, Richard.

I think this is normal for a straight LED bulb where a conventional bulb would be expected. I have them in my W124s and they don't cause a problem with battery draining or anything. I guess with the normal type bulbs they would be drawing the same low current/voltage all the time but the bulb needs more than that to come on.
You get ones that have some sort of PCB in them for systems where the car monitors for bulb failures and will throw up an error if a low resistance LED is used. I have them for my modern toss Benzes. The non-PCB ones cause an error in the moderns but the PCB ones don't glow in the retros.
Another thing that might help is that my W124 estate has remote locking and an immobliser. The LED will glow in that until I lock AND imobilise it. Maybe the imobilser kills the power completely?

Three choices - either fit normal bulb, remove delay circuit or live with it ! Realistically a flashing LED to indicate immobiliser working wouldn't worry anyone about draining battery so neither is a LED interior light glowing slightly. The only thing to watch is if you have voltage sensing alarm system which expects a 5w bulb to draw power when door opened so with LED the alarm wouldn't be triggered.

Thanks for the replies chaps. If it don't work properly with an LED bulb I'd rather stick with the original type. Cheers, Richard.
