I used to be a member on here a long time back under my old (car related) business name which is still going strong under new ownership, so please forgive the first post being an advert, but I thought it may appeal to people on here.
This car is my Mum's car (registered in my Dad's name - the only registered keeper) which was purchased new in June 1997. Before buying this car my Mum used to change cars every three years or so, but she liked this so much that almost 17 years later she still has it!
It is only being sold because for health reasons she needs an automatic, and the new car (Merc SLK) arrived a few days ago.
The car has full history (main dealer, then the independent garage owned by my Dad until he retired) and every MOT and tax disc from new, together with the original purchase receipt and handbooks. Garaged virtually every night from new. 65,400 miles and it won't be increasing now.
It has full beige leather, heated seats and an upgraded (factory) stereo. There was also the optional wood pack and metallic paint. It is a 2.0 S manual, no aircon. Factory fitted alloys and absolutely no modifications other than the alarm and a Clarion CD changer in the boot.
Remote locking with a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm was fitted and works perfectly. It includes a function to disable the interior sensors when the car is left with the roof down.
In recent years its had a new fuel gauge sender and heating elements in the front seats which were fitted by the main dealer at a massive cost for what the parts were. It also had a genuine replacement exhaust at some point, and a new bonnet badge as the old one suffered from crazing.
The main downside is that the electric hood stopped operating last summer. I found out how to raise and lower the roof manually and as the car is not used often, the roof was left down all summer and then raised for the winter. The individual motors and solenoids seem to work individually and I think the problem is the control interface in the boot, but obviously I cannot confirm this. The on board computer gives error messages for the hood latches but otherwise there are no warning lights/messages at all. The hood itself is excellent and has never leaked.
Other very minor issues are a slight crack in the O/S mirror housing, the electric aerial doesn't work (it's stuck up so still picks up a signal perfectly) and there are a few very very small dents on the side (which aren't noticeable in photos). The paint is excellent, very few stone chips and absolutely no rust. It's never been in a bump. There is no damage to the seats and the carpets have been covered from new. Condition wise it's better than a lot of three year old cars.
There is MOT until around July but my Dad said he will happily put a new MOT on it if required as it will fly through. I'm not sure what the position is with tax, as they are currently waiting for the private place to be transferred off.
I used it for a few weeks in between selling my old car and my new one being ready and there were absolutely no issues with it and this was in the winter. My Mum also insisted I kept it in the garage every night as a condition of borrowing it, which shows how much it has been cared for.

I think it's very hard to value this, but as per the forum rules I'll say the price is £950. If it was something I fancied PX may be possible but otherwise it would be a cash sale.
