Gauges -Who?What?Where?When?Why?
It'll not be long now til its dashboard time for the Mini. I'm looking for gauges that arent your usual gauges you see in every other mini. Smiths gauges look oh-so-right in minis but they arent what I'm looking for.
I have no idea where to look other than eBay and Demon McRipoff Tweeks. May I enlist the services of the RR's to guide me where to look and maby advise some funky/non-tacky intresting analogue (or possibly some nice digital) gauges. All suggestions welcomed, nothing as new as say Automec style, probably around the 52mm size, but speedo and rev counter can be bigger, but also can be the same size!
So if all that makes some sort of sence and you can help, post away!

I like those alot! Also! Complete NOOB question - What about wiring up? Do all gauges wire up sort of similarly? Say all rev counters take a feed from the coil and where ever else - So then its just a case of wiring it into the standard rev coutner wiring. Do problems start with the likes of oil pressure etc? www.omorimeter.com/52mm_oil_pressure_gauge.htmScroll past the gauges and see the fitting kit type things, just fitting for J stuff, anyone know how i would go about this fitting. Possible to use say a Smiths oil pressure sender and wire to the Omori gauge or do things not work like that? I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to wiring, I'm sure (and hoping) dad knows more about this when we come to this stage in the build! Thanks for the link (s) so far, keep 'em coming!

I use TIM guages, plain and simple and much better value for money than most others. If you can use mechanical guages insted of electrical, cheaper, more relyable and generally more accurate too. they even work with the ignition off

I've used a few different types over the years, but recently decked out the celica dash in autometer pro-comp goodies. I just like em cos they're classic motorsport style gauges. Also agree with slater, TIM ones are great, and awesome value for money. I've had a few of them and never had a problem I prefer the look / operation of mechanical gauges, but as i'm better with wires than I am at poking capillaries through bulkheads, I use leccy ones instead

Thanks for the help guys! Very intrested in the Moon Eyes and Omori Gauges....still time to decide which but looks like it might be one of the two!
Probably electric gauges too...simplier.

I've got VDO ones in the golf, and autometer ones in the bug. Both are great and appear to be pretty accurate.

Hey ST182 are you pretending to be me? ;D I do like the Auto Meter stuff, loads of different styles/sizes/calibrations : Auto Meter selectorI bought all mine direct from the States via Summit RacingExchange rate is good (for us), so even with shipping and import tax still good value. Takes a couple of weeks to arrive though I think Real Steel are UK stockist, but how many versions they stock I'm not sure. Here's my effort:
