I popped into the services on the way home from visiting my girlfriend and having been for a curse word I came out to see someone putting out the CRX. Doesn't look too bad but definitely an insurance write-off.

Must have been a short somewhere. It got whisked off to a storage yard in Swindon. Absolutely gutted

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yeah, fingers crossed. A new loom shouldn't be too much hassle, it's just finding the money to replace bits like the nose-cone (£400)

Looks like stranger-dude got in there quick and put it out, a zillion points to him! Gutted for you though, I think car fires are the one 'incident' that does really scare me in terms of the amount of damage it can do in such a short space of time. I dare say a few more minutes and you wouldn't be thinking of getting it back on the road!

Never trust a man Who names himself Trevor. Or one day you might find He's not a real drug dealer.

Deffo. I owe the fire extinguisher man a beer or two. I just got on the phone instantly and he got lost in the crowd that had gathered around it too quickly for me to thank him.
He was a really nice chap, should have made more of an effort to say ta.

Gutted. My Mk3 Escort caught fire, it's a horrible thing to happen. I always carry a fire extinguisher now, I'd have been in a real mess if I didn't have one that day. Glad there was a good samaritan there to catch it before the fire took hold! Hope you get it sorted

thats realy bad news, its not been a good weekend for car fires, a friend put his imp back together only to find that one of the fuel unions wasnt tight enough and was dripping petrol into the engine bay, then in the proccess of trying to start it, it back fired and caught on fire!! got it going though and only minor damage done. I'm off to ebay to buy a cut off switch for sure having seen this. YES HE CAN !... i'm genuinely sorry for that. i was tempted to say it, but i didnt.
