This car is going to the scrap man at the end of the week for £170, so just posting it here in case anybody feels like saving it.
It's an R-Reg UK-spec Volvo XC70 (2.4 Turbo Petrol, Automatic) with c. 160,000 on the clock.
It's been French registered and the controle technique (French MOT) runs out at the end of January.
Good bits? No rust, drives well and has 4 decent tyres. Newish rear Nivomat self-levelling shocks. Recently completed two trips London - Cognac without a single hiccup.
Bad bits? (Deep breath) there was a problem with the rear axle so the propshaft has been removed (making it permanent FWD) resulting in the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree (TRACS, ABS etc.) The interior is trashed as a result of my brother (whose car it is) using it as a workhorse whilst renovating his house, also his dog ate a lot of interior trim. Make no bones about it, the interior is gross. That said everything works (heated seats, radio etc.) even the aircon. The bonnet had some cement splashed on it and the builders attempted to clean it off with a brillo pad (!!) with the result being.... well I'm sure you can imagine. There's a small dent in the rear drivers' side wheel arch from memory.
In short, the car looks rough and is rough. That said, it goes like a train and despite its shortcomings it just seems too good to scrap. If an enthusiast were to break it the Nivomat shocks alone would go for double the purchase price owing to them being rarer than poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo.
I'm well aware that there's a *really* nice XC70 on here for less than a grand - this vehicle is most certainly not in the same league!! It's basically appealing to somebody who simply must have an XC70 in their life, isn't fussy and has £170 from Auntie Maude for Christmas burning a hole in their pocket.
The only photos I have are these two rubbish ones from Christmas (one leg of its recent trips to Cognac). If anyone actually wants more pics of the vehicle I can provide them.
