Result!
Have sourced a 1991 ls400! Not too far away. So that means I have proof of engine number and year for the IVA so I won't have to run cats for the emissions

Good buy paul, and a trailer always comes in handy too, will you have to use the engine from the latest purchase or will you just use the engine numbers/ log book for proof of age

When mine finally gets to the stage of a MOT I'll say its an old V8 with modern bit on, as Toyota has been knocking out V8 since the 60's. So it should get tested as the 1972 car it is/was. Which should be tested by sight.

For mot purposes it's whichever is older so a modern lump in a visual or two gas test aged car gets the test for the car not the engine . A later car trying to get a non cat test would need some proof but I've yet to come across that scenario and 99% of the oddball stuff that was in the grey area became garden furniture and cheap socket sets a long time ago
