Thats a damn fine looking FD. This thread is making me miss my rotor lots Rx7 + Regamasters = 100% awesome. Other 5 spoke wheels are available and also look great….(SSR type c?) 6 works too…. Love the missing sidelights on this red one (so much that I did the same look on my rotary 5!)

Ah yes, I do like that Montrose Was playing a bit of Gran Turismo 6 earlier today and stumbled across another rotary car which I had never heard of.. The Mazda RX500 concept car from 1970 According to GT6 it has a racing tuned 10A twin rotor engine with over 250hp, and was expected to hit a top speed of 155mph Plus its has an amazing mix of all the best 70's wedge, breadvan supercar design

Yeah, the closest I've ever come to one is having a couple of Matchbox Superfast RX-500s No-one actually seems sure how many were made, estimates between one and five. There was one that got restored to a running condition recently, there are some videos of it driving on YouTube. As in keeping with concepts of the era, they weren't content with futuristic styling and engines, they had to have other features; for example, the rear lights would change colour depending on how fast the car was going, from deep maroon they got progressively lighter till they went through orange. Hmmm, wonder why that never caught on... Whether this feature ever made it onto any of the running prototypes is moot. OK, downright unlikely.

Gran Turismo seem to think it was one based on the restored one having 3 different colours of paint on it when they restored it apparently.. ha thats nothing, my MGB's lights change brightness depending on how fast I'm going but that might just be an alternator thing...

Another iconic '3 was the Penthouse-sponsored car of Wendy Markey (her husband did and still does run a sportscar garage in the wilds of Surrey somewhere). I guess this was a bit risque back then, but the car does suit the colourscheme!

Really liking the FD at the moment - such a well-styled car.
And why didn't they build the RX500? What the range needed was a halo model...

maybe sort the wiring too Looks like generations of mice have lived and died in there I'm sure one of the antipodeans over on Exile had owned one of those Roadpacers in the past, Kieron? I have vague recollections of them not liking very much on the above-mentioned grounds; immense weight and feeble engine. Never a good combo, lol. They could be made to look properly tough in a sort of Moscow Taxi way though, I reckon

Well, if we're talking two wheels... Those Rotary Nortons left a lasting impression on me, especially in the second-best ever racing livery. The NOISE! Awseome things. Even the one Hizzy won the TT on, such a prodigous achievement, considering Fogarty killed a works Yamaha OW01 trying to close him down and set a lap record that stood for a decade... and still couldn't catch Hislop on a bike basically made from hoover pipes, angle-iron and good luck in some bloke's garden shed. Haslam, Spray and Nation, heroes of rotary righteousness Hislop, short-circuit style and commitment on the Mountain

There's two I know of in the UK but I dunno if they were genuine or imports. Some old gimmer over on Marsey takes his to the Brooklands thing most years I love the little electric "opera" window in the back. No reason for it, just Mazda bonkersness They love them in a VIP yakusa gangsta stylee back in Japan, I think they're one of the rotangs that are still going up in vlaue back there
