I watched a repeat of top gear where they abused 3 BL cars - dolly sprint, SD1 and princess.
After filling them with water I assume that they were disposed of.
Anybody know their fate?

The Dolomite - last I saw, some years ago - was at the Top Gear Technology Centre in Didcot with Steve, the mechanic. The roof had been welded up and the car was totally stripped in preparation for a rebuild.
Apparently is was sold for £1 to someone on the crew, because the BBC can't be seen to be making a profit from things like that.
Like I said though, this is a number of years ago. I have picture somewhere on my other computer. It looked in a bad way, nestled in the corner with al its bits and bobs piled on top. Whether or not it ever saw completion is a mystery to me.
As for the other two, no idea.
Chris

Thats better than it being scrapped, but why shouldnt the BBC profit from things like that, as long as the money goes to charity or back in the pot - it is our money after all lol.

Don't shoot the messenger! I'm only relaying what Steve told me. Chris

Top Gear generates a lot of revenue. They didn't buy that Dolomite with your license fee.

I don't know about the BL cars but I'm pretty sure that Hammond's Blue 924 from the cheap Porsche challenge (or a very convincing copy) used to live round the corner from me just outside of Ipswich a couple of years ago

The last I saw, the Top Gear 'Princess' was on display in the Top Gear bit of Beaulieu...
I know that there is a big holding pen at the airfield where Top Gear is filmed (I saw it on my way out of Wings & Wheels a couple of years ago) and it was chock-full of old Top Gear challenge cars being left to gather moss...!!!!!!!!!!!!
It'd be good if that Dolomite Sprint was restored...

[Generic_Top_Gear_scripted_destroying_classics_hate_comment] Those bastards, always destroying immaculate examples of true classics in such a scripted way.

I once saw clarksons Mitsubishi starion (from the 2000 pound coupe thats not a Porsche challenge) at a local car show (culmstock wheels) still wearing it's topgear paint job altho it had been re done in places and the roof was signed by jezza too :-)

Anyone going to Wheels Day (its moved to Dunsfold), look to your right as you enter the airfield, you'll see a gated compound full of TG project cars. Even some that never made airing.
