Hi guys,
Looking to get a van but would like to know what people would suggest. I have a budget of around a grand. I like the look of hyundai h100's, i might get a nasty old t4 or newer transit if I'm lucky. Whats the J stuff like? Not a fan of the vanette.
Anyone got any experiences of any, or any for sale. don't want anything bigger than a t4 and cant go as small as a combo or connect. Need it to throw motorbikes in the back and bicycles and maybe a bit of camoing with a matress in the back.
Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom
If you don't want something retro I think the best one for under a grand is a Scudo/Dispatch/Expert with an NA Diesel in it. They are bullet proof, economical and really comfy.
Also, two side doors as standard etc!

My 2.0 HDi has been off the road for ages and you have to dismantle half the car just to get access for a clutch change. I should have bought a n/a instead although I also on reflection wished I'd got another Transit (had two before) instead of the Expert ! Paul h

Cheers for the replys guys but i think the ones you suggest may be a bit small. My brother has just had a new partner with his work and it is a lot smaller than I had imagined. The scudo bnd expert are similar sizes I think. The thing that i though with the hyundai is the wheelbase is a bit longer isn't it?

If you can find a non rotten Vito then I would say it was perfect for what you are looking for.

Good luck finding T4s for a grand. If you can, I'll take 3 of them.

Before I got my rather fantastic fiat, I had a t4 and it was under a grand, with test and tax.

H100's are long, thats why they're popular with carpet fitters, J stuff expensive to buy even when knackered as most of it goes for export

I'd say save up pennies and buy the best Transit you can find - as I've already said I made the mistake of buying an 03 reg Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi a couple of years ago and regretted it ever since.
