The Missus has just passed her driving test here so we're on the lookout for a motor for her. It needs to be an auto, reasonable ground clearence, without being a tank and ideally 4x4. This is because Manila floods on a regular basis and I'd like her to be able to get home if she's caught. As parking is tight in our condo block (slotting in the RR is like docking an ocean liner), I don't want a full size 4x4.
The little Suzuki Jimnys are mainly manual here, so we're considering an older (pre-2000) 3-door Rav4. Now, looking at reviews on-line they are all gushing "best car in the world" types or "don't touch with a bargepole", with little in between. So my question is anyone on here with any experience of what they are like to live with on a daily basis? Parts are easy here and I'm happy to do the work myself once we move later this year, but anything I should be looking out for? Corrosion isn't generally a big issue, although previous flooding can be.
