I think it was HoTWire who suggested an East London meet whilst debate was raging in the 'Hipsters' thread. So, being on night shift, with little else to do, I'm having a scout round for possible venues. But then, I thought I'd ask what do people want from a meet? Something to eat and drink, which generally means a cafe/diner or a pub. Somewhere to park (obviously), which means a decent size car park. Somewhere we can be seen? Do we like to show off our cars to others a teeny bit? Which means somewhere quite busy. So, first thought was Tobacco Dock in Wapping, but that appears to be almost totally closed now. What about Big Moe's, a Fifties-style American diner, by the Showcase cinema in Barking? bigmoesdiner.co.uk/Any other sugegstions?

Good call... Big Moes looks like a good place for a meet,.. a little more Essex than East London, at least as far as people were referring to the hipsters of East London Tobacco dock is probably more in the right direction for an East London meet... The problem with meets in Shoreditch etc. is that there aren't always good places to park up a bunch of cars... I'm wondering if maybe there is more space in Docklands?

I'd be all over that when i'm at home, so count me in for sure! Have tried getting a Southend meet off the ground time and time again but nothing ever materialises, East London's perfectly do-able for the few of us that do get out though

I can't get a Street View of the quay area, but it looks like there's plenty of space looking on Google Earth. And it's apparently very cool and arty round there, with art installations, industrial sculpture, a tide-driven lunar clock and London's only lighthouse www.trinitybuoywharf.com/I've got a few days off next week, so will nip down and have a look, and a chat with the diner people. They close at 5pm, so maybe a weekend lunchtime might be best? How much notice do people like about an upcoming meet? Would late March sound good?

Big moes is a good place to meet I went there a few times last year when there was a Hotrod meet there.and the owners seemed happy with all the cars turning up. I work just around the corner to moe so if you want I could pop in and a chat to see if they would let us use there car park

Hi guys, I just joined the forum for the very reason of finding a local meet. I'd be well up for this!

I'm down at Fatboys now, enjoying a very good cappuccino, and the owner is happy to see us! Sundays are good, because none of the people who work on the quay are around, so there's plenty of space. They already have Porsche and Ducati meetings.

I'll look at the work roster when I go back in tomorrow and work out a suitable date.
