They just give jam jars and broken paving slabs on my local one. There is always someone wanting a laptop, I pad, car, etc. though......

I actually did offer him a few quid but he wouldn't take it.
I have seen people giving away cars before although they go quick.

I got an old dishwasher that I was going to use for a parts washer. Left it outside (behind a gate) while I went to work and it had gone by the time I got back!
Also got some free old tools which I'm not scared of being rough with.

I guess you've missed the point some where in the topic tittle darrylwebb Would you pay more for your shopping in tescos I fully understand that the gear was offered for free. And kudos to gazjon for offering the guy a few quid. My point, and I'm not trying to start anything, or take this thread off in another direction but........ There are an awful lot of gougers who want to buy good gear for next to nothing. Everyone, including me likes a bargain, but I pay or accept a fair price. Fair do's to gazjon. The 'seller' is probably happy enough that the gear went to someone who could use it, and offering him something at least he'll feel treated fairly.

I got an old style valve spring remover that turned out to be just the right size for my sidevalve engine build a few years ago. The guy was dead chuffed it was going to a good home.
We've had loads of good stuff off Freecycle over the years: quite a few bikes and parts, Nokia 3310 that I still use, sewing machine, wardrobe for the shed, stuff for the garden, fancy dress stuff. Lost track of it all really. We've also offered quite a lot, but people are usually just glad to see the back of stuff that's taking up space and see it go to a good home.

I once got an E reg Saab 900 from a Freecycler in Cambridge. No MoT, and in a bit of a state, but otherwise identical to my daily at the time so it was a great spares car.
