did a bita sanding, bita panel wipe and a bita tac rags. then some barcoat. the problem is i don't know my gun. ive got 60psi going into it and 3 knobs to play with. ive just twiddled with them till it looks about right. ive no idea what any of them do. anyway the results are; its still rough, ive got dust in it, and about 1,000,000 insects appeared and craweled all over it. hopefully they'll die a painful death. anyway, tomorrow I'm going to prime it. i might sand it a bit first. its still drying.

Looks really good like that. Reminds me of the body of an unmade airfix Capri or something.

Yeah, looks good up to now. I'm guesing your using a suction fed gun as opposed to a gravity fed gun? The three knobs should be: 1. for the fan adjustment/pattern 2. for the trigger adjustment (stops you pulling the trigger all the way in) 3. for amount of airflow coming through to the gun. You should have around 55psi (at the gun) on average, so you'll be about right depending on airline length. One thing I would do is cover over the units and tool boxes to keep the dust circulation to a minimum (as well as stop them getting covered in overspray) and put some water down on the floor (again, to keep the dust down) P.S. I always put fresh masking on prior to topcoating as they are usually covered in overspray dust. Takes a little longer but anything helps when trying to keep dust and bits at bay. The final result is all down to the prep, spraying is the easy part.

I'd use a Scotchpad to lightly take the dust off then blow off, tac it down and hit it with a few coats of high build primer. Try not to mess with the barcoat too much as the primer is easier to play with/recoat etc. Put plenty of primer on so you don't flat through it and give the primer a light guide coat of black (or other dark colour) to show up any dents or imperfections when flatting.

not got a scotch pad, and i don't actually know what it is. anyway, todays plan will be;
walk dog 1200 blow high build x100 get really drunk

well ive sprayed it, and its not gone well. i skimed round with the 1200, but it was still rough. so rough the tac rag disintergrated around it. some some reason i don't think my undercoat mixed very well with the thinners. anyway the suction gun decided to stop working, so i had to use the gravity feed one. then the airline fell out and blew s*it everywhere. anyway, the high build doesn't seem to stick to the barcoat (pressure to high?), its kinda translucent.

i was told your not supposed to flat back barcoat.
i take it your gun is normal type and not HVLP?

a bit of dry 400 and 2nd coat; its a bit patchy in places, but ive run out of primer. so ive got 3 choices. 1 - buy some more high build. this will cost time, which i don't want it to do. 2 - bodge on. paint it tomorrow and hope for the best. 3 - use all the old primer aerosols i can find.

When do you want to respray this next and how good of a job do you want done?
I'd go for option 1 unless you don't care how the car turns out, personally!
