Started refurbishing the gt wheels, starting with this.  Gave it a good portion of sanding disc and flap wheel, followed by a slap with some 2 pack grey, which leaves me with.  Ready for the silver top coat. One down three to go. Ttfn Glenn |

Having my first attempt at banding steels, going old school by using a hacksaw to split the rim, the saw was inherited from my dad and is probably over 50 years old. Very nice to use though.  Ttfn Glenn |

Rim is now split, just have to fire up the welder and fit the rim back on, but 1 and 1/2 inches further apart,  Ttfn Glenn |

Grabbed some shed time, and set about forming the bands, not having a roller meant I had to improvise, cue G clamp and spare wheel, will need a smaller former, but a ratchet strap will do for now.  And here's the gratuitous " I've got an extra inch and a half " shot.  Ttfn Glenn |

Fired up the welder, grinder and paintbrush, which left me with this  The rim has a couple of leaks which will need to be ground out and rewelded plus a general tidy up but ran out of grinding blades. Ttfn Glenn |

Two of the GT wheels got sliced and diced on the lathe, just need some shed time to weld them back together, a bit further apart  And as a mojo support here's another picture of what the finished item should look like, but in Tunis yellow with banded GT wheels.  Ttfn Glenn |

No progress lately, last weekend was illness, this weekend was btcc at Knockhill, so loaded up my mechanic and dragged him to the races. We were there supporting the AMD team with Dave newsham. Having their best weekend, no accidents and 3 top ten finishes. Prior to the last race we joined in with the grid walk, giving a never to be repeated embarrassing photo chance.  The third race was absolutely stunning, with Dave getting a brilliant second to bring home the silver, cue second embarrassing photo  Just incase you need a bit of retro, this was sunning itself in the car park.  Hopefully normal grinding and welding will be resumed soon Ttfn Glenn |

Nice looking bit of steel there. Has a trick up its sleeve, but that will be revealed later, also collected a box full of wiring, lights etc plus a couple of seats and harnesses. Can't take any pictures at the moment as am on family holiday and a trip to the shed would see me being shipped to the vet, for the 2 for 1 deal ( dog already been ) Ttfn Glenn |

Did a quick mock up.  The headlamp brackets will need work as they bounce slightly, the rear lights may get moved, but just for appearance Ttfn Glenn Would have got more done, but was tied up helping with the ERA replica build and the xjs project Ttfn Glenn |

Been quiet of late, now hopefully thyroxin will keep the mojo levels up. Bought a spare engine, which turned out to be a late 1200, so this will be going into the bug, whose 1700 will be fitted to the rail  Got a little bit of welding and painting done to the floorpan, not really picture worthy though Ttfn Glenn |

Been a very long time since I posted on this thread. An ongoing fight with depression has meant bursts of mojo have been few and far between, have been slowly ticking away at this, floodplain is welded and painted, space frame is painted and bolted to pan, will try to add some pictures later. Latest microscopic step forward is fitting some chunky tires to the wide gt wheels  Ps son is now 18 !!!!!!!! |
