Thought I'd start a thread that hopefully will be full of pics. So what retros have you all bought this year? And what happened/happening to them? This year I only bought 1 retro car, a red capri, which I broke for spares and sold the shell to a bloke who wanted to turn it into a mk1capri. So what did you all buy?

I may cheat here . Towards the tail end (very tail end) of 2012 I bought a Mini City E in the Cool Runnings Livery, or is it Northants Saints? Either way, it was a scratch itched and a very solid car to boot: Also at the tail end of last year (literally a week after buying the Mini!) I was offered a Porsche 944 Turbo with a number of fancy bits in addition to having some great pedigree behind it (It was owned by a director of ProMax Motorsport not so long ago before falling into the hands of another renowned 944 specialist). Before I knew it, the deal was sealed. Come February time the Mini was sold against the 944 Turbo. It certainly felt strange going from a good example of a Mini (albeit slow and slightly unrefined) to an 80s yuppiemobile with over 4 times the amount the power!: Will I change things come next year. Probably. Not down to the cars but simply enjoying the variety (2012 did see me buy a few retros)!

Wish my laptop worked as I bought a 1995 impreza wrx which I wAnt it to look as standard as possible but run fast which it runs at 268 Bhp at mo but it needed a bleed valve so it be between 280 and 290 Bhp but I've already put bigger air filter and have a big front mount intercooler that could handle 650bhp but not planning on driving it to much as work van takes up the weekly driving

1956 SIMCA Aronde Grand Large Coupe... needs lots of welding after being in the weeds in a garden for 12 years but has real potential. SIMCA 1000 seen at Mallory PPC in the Park 2012, bought as a shell and boxes of bits as owner had stripped it for the engine and various original Rallye parts.... new home for my supercharged SIMCA engine eventually. Part built trackday SIMCA 1000 fitted with Honda B series Vtec. Loads of work needed to complete it.... one day.. Mick

I started the year with a dark blue '97 Maestro and a broken '80 Princess. But my first purchase when I sold the Maestro was a Citroen BX n/a diesel estate (ÂŁ250 T&T delivered for an amount that put it just over ÂŁ300 if memory serves). Cracking thing but too far gone when it came to getting it ready for the MoT, mainly due to a *lot* of rot that you can't really see in this picture. I don't regret scrapping it, but I wish it could have been avoided as I'd still have it now I think. I replaced that with a 1984 Mk1 Golf (ÂŁ300, less than 5 miles from home and driven from the field to the house) that had been sitting in a field for 3 years, but I didn't really gel with it and my brother now has it, using it daily and working through the suprisingly small amount of niggles. That in turn was replaced because of a 1981 Princess (car was free, ÂŁ280 to deliver from Plymouth) that was being offered free to collector as spares/repair. My intention was to save this car if it was worth it (it is) and sell it to an enthusiast who could do the cosmetic bodywork it needs and who would enjoy it. That intention has been realised and it's fast approaching it's first MoT since the late 90s when it came off the road. The car to replace the HLS is arriving in January. Technically not yet paid for, but we're just arranging a collection date at which point cash will change hands. A very rare Renault 6TL (ÂŁ80 plus approx ÂŁ100 delivery) that's been off the road since 1993 and stored in an actual barn until about a year ago. This one will be returning to the road as well. While all this swapping has been going on, I still have my 1980 Princess that I use every day, but since I didn't purchase that this year I shan't include a picture. The thing that's surprised me with the above is that they've all been bought and got home for around ÂŁ300, which the exception of the Renault which has cost much less but will likely cost me at least ÂŁ300 all in to get sorted for an MoT. I don't deliberately spend so little on cars, but it has proven to me that if you're willing to spend a little time and effort you can get a really quite good car for almost nothing.

Januari, 1986 Opel Corsa A/ Vauxhall Nova Lowered on Ebay coilovers and fitted with a Volvo Amazon factory option roofrack. First engine con rod snapped 11 days after I bought it, after slaughtering 2 gearboxes the months after. Turned it back to stock and sold it. End of July, 1977 Volkswagen Derby LS, absolutely love this thing since the day I bought it.

Some lovely motors you've bought this year chaps I'm especially liking the scimitars. I bought an escort ghia in 2013, complete with a 2.1 pinto, 7" RS ronals and louvres, I just love the louvres.

My 2013 started with this Cavalier, which was a ridiculously cheap ebay bargain and which has now covered a silly number of trouble free miles having been pressed into service as a daily for a while. Around the same time I bought a Senator A2 from a mate of mine, got it through the MOT then he decided he missed it so bought it back Then I bought this, which has become an ongoing project due to engine issues... The original had a porous head, so I got a replacement to drop straight in which has turned out to have waaaay too much endfloat in the crankshaft to be usable as is. Watch this space... My dad's had an interesting year too, bought this Commodore B GSE saloon which has now gone to a new home with someone who got in touch through these very forums and will be having a full restoration some time in 2014 we hope. That was followed by this, which we smoked around for a few months and is currently sat idle. And he bought a 24v auto Senator just for good measure, which will hopefully be seeing the road some time early in the new year. Yep, we sure do like our GM tin!

In January I bought an E21 316 In February I bought a Skoda Favorit Pickup In April I bought another Skoda Favorit Pickup These are all work-related purchases although not breakers, so they can be noted in passing. In April I also bought a 1997 BMW 535i and in June a 1998 BMW 728i - both of which sadly scrapped. (Scottish) Island life meant the E39 rotted away and the E38 was melted by my car-killing father. In July I bought a 164: And a 540i: Also in July I bought a 1998 Skoda Felicia Fun Pickup. Absolutely horrendous and broken up and sold in bits. In December, just last week, having been annoyed by the previous one not living up to expectations, I foolishly bought another 164: and an Austin chassis, bought but not yet paid for so it may be a 2104 purchase really. This has been an absolutely appalling year in personal car buying terms for me, having failed to achieve anything of significance, not really worked on any of them, and overall making a mess of my "collection", filling it with more junk despite trying to cut down and selling some of my nicer excess cars early in the year.

Well, my list is rather short... Bought this in february, but only as a organ donor. '90 300TD Turbodiesel. And this was given to me for free. And it was horrible! I tried to sell it ASAP, didn't lose any money - still a waste of time & garage space.
