Anyway just phone your local nissan parts dept and give them the vin and ask em for the code they should have it there and give it to ya to be safe ,chances are over the years and repairs it won't match perfectly anyway unless your doing full cars or blowing in a repair

Not about the paint code, but you will need a VIN plate for the MOT when it comes round!

I've put a couple of cars through the test which have had no vin plate. So long as it's stamped in the body somewhere you should be ok.

Technically the VIN plate should not be used as an MOT reference and numbers should be taken from the stamped prefix. For obvious "ringing" issues

Yeah right! I know dozens of MOT testers (and was one myself before starting my own garage up) and they ALL take the easy way out. I have in the past had cars fail for not having the plate, despite the numbers being stamped in elsewhere.

Am not even sure where half the VIN plate have been on the more modern stuff I've owned due to it having the long number in the window.
Make your own from the logbook its only a pressed/stamped plate at the end of the day.

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!

Yeah right! I know dozens of MOT testers (and was one myself before starting my own garage up) and they ALL take the easy way out. I have in the past had cars fail for not having the plate, despite the numbers being stamped in elsewhere. Steve Thats why I said technically. MOT Manual also says the vehicle must permanently display a legible vehicle identication number. Which can either be - on a VIN Plate secured to the vehicle or stamped or etched on the vehicle body or chassis. Reason for Rejection 5. a. A Vehicle Identification Number not permanently displayed, incomplete or not legible Note: Only one VIN is required to be complete and legible. b. more than one different Vehicle Identification Number displayed. Note: It is acceptable for a vehicle that has been manufactured as part of a multistage build, (a modification taken place to a vehicle at the manufacture stage before sold as new) to show more than one VIN. The second and subsequent stage VINs will also be a 17 digit VIN and will be displayed on an additional plate. When a multistage built vehicle is presented for test the last stage VIN must be used for MOT documentation. Looks like you were wrongly refused an M.O.T.
