Hello, just about to do some quotes for the Beemer as I want it on the road in the next couple of weeks, but the problem I'm having is all the companies I've looked at so far require the classic to be a second car.. I asked on another forum a while ago but can't find the thread now, so thought I'd ask here. Do any of you manage to insure your classic as your only car? If so, who do you use? I remember people on that forum had classic policies on their main cars..
I understand why many have this as a requirement, but I walk to work, live just out of Birmingham city centre and generally have no use for a car during the week anyway, it'd be used in the same way most people with main cars would use their classics, so limited mileage isn't a problem.
Cheers

Have you spoken to Adrian Flux? They always seem to come up with the goods.

I've only ever been asked if I "have access to another car", not if I own another.

i had this problem on my mx5 this year, I'm insured on a van but most classic policies wouldnt accept that as a main vehicle on a classic policy. I ended up insuring it normally with a low millage limit and cost wise there wasnt much in it

As above I am on the policy for my Dad's work van as I used to work with him, but as it's not a S,D&P policy they aren't interested. When I said I had access to this vehicle I was quoted £250, without this van on the quote I'm getting between £1,800 - £5,500, which is ridiculous. Sky have quoted £800 which at the minute which is looking my best option, not too happy, I was hoping to pay around £400. I'll try A-Plan as mentioned above, cheers

My daily E30 is with Chaucer, through Carole Nash. Covered for SD+P and commuting, good price . . .
. . . however, it's just been written off, and after the dealings with them, I can't recommend them.
