As I said on Facebook, this is such a terrible loss. He was an icon of my generation, and as mentioned he did so much for charity.
He will be missed, along with the driver of the Carrera GT (not sure of his name yet). Thoughts are with his daughter and family.

Genuinely shocked and genuinely upset. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've grown up with these movies and I've loved every one of them (Okay, so 2 Fast 2 Furious wasn't great). I remember what cinema I saw each film at, I remember what car I was driving and I remember who I was with. The franchise has been a theme in my life for the last 12/13 years. He seemed to be a good guy, he was PROPERLY into his cars, too. Not just a Hollywood fanboi trying to appease fans. He really was the real deal, one of our kind of people. Then there's the countless charity work and so on. Forty is too bloody young, and the circumstances are horrible. RIP Mr. Walker, you'll certainly be missed by me.   Chris |

A tragedy indeed. A little odd as last night I introduced my 10 yr old son to the franchise by watching the first two movies back to back, then wake up this morning to the news. Weird. A sad loss of a genuine guy |

Very sad indeed. As said, a proper childhood icon for a lot of people, myself included. Effortlessly cool and always seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. RIP

Gutted As a few have said, I grew up with the F&F franchise too and it is sad, sad news to hear he's gone. Tragic and ironic. RIP guys. |

Real shame - quite taken a back by it when my girlfriend saw it this morning! Strange having grown up with it all, remember watching the first one on repeat at my mate's when we were just starting secondary school. Probably had a lot to play in how a lot of us are now!
Certainly was one of us, top bloke.

It is a big loss.but it's not the worst way to go wen u look at it if your into cars.a crash in a supercar with your bestmate doing what you love is a lot better than cancer or a slow painful death etc.its not the nicest thing but what a way to go

A real shame this, I couldn't believe it when I first read it. Whether you like the films or not, there is no denying how much they affected the car scene, and how many people they got interested in it. They were fun and made liking cars more acceptable in the public eye. As said, he was one of us, and will greatly missed, respects also go out to Roger Rodas - the driver at the time and a former racing driver himself.

Real sad news, we just watched into the blue the other night, him and Jessica Alba are in it, quite a good movie. Fast and furious while not the best films ever made were good fun to watch, just take them as a bit of mindless fun and they were great, RIP
|

It's a crying shame. He always struck me as a genuinely nice guy and he was also clearly a real car enthusiast.

The films will never seem the same again!

Such a shame to see him gone. A nasty way to go too. My thoughts go out to him and the driver of the car who also sadly passed. A company are doing stickers for £1.50 a pop, £1 of which will go to the charity he set up.
