Bit of help please.
I have a Twin cam Sierra, with no power steering.
Ive changed the aux belt, which goes around the bottom pulley, alternator, and water pump. Should be pretty easy job, but, I cant get the new belt to tighten.
The new one is slightly smaller than the old one, due to the old one being old and stretched, but still the new one has lots of play, and is squeaking due to it slipping. Ive tried gently levering the alternator over, to tension the belt, but the bracket that attaches the alternator to the engine, doesn't have any more length in it, to tilt the alternator over any more. Is there another tensioner or something I'm missing? The only way way I can see to take the slack out of the belt, is to lengthen the slide bracket. That cant be right!
Any help appreciated.
