Thought it may be useful and intersting to chat about long distance mags! Currently I don't often buy em, finding good mags from this country is hard enough!, however I have a few decent shops now local ish (depending where I am) and they do some cool ens, gonna start getting that Hot Rod Mag, and some of teh other US customising mags, from what I have seen in the past they are very good, can't remember names. notice the suply of J mags on here too. so what do you buy, why, where from/how, and are they beter than our mags or our 'scene(s)'? which ever way you wanna go

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I've had some bum deals with international subscriptions before. Like paying my money and not getting any magazines...

Yes, reanimation that's at least two of us you've distracted! WHen I was at school I used to buy eveything I could get my hands on including Car Craft and the like. I stopped buying the American mags a few years ago as I felt I wasn't learning or seeing anything new but have recently picked up the odd copy of Rod and Custom again. Seems like there's a nice bit of variety in there though I guess the tech stuff is always going to be advertiser led ie. "How to fit this bolt on kit we blagged from Joe's Rod Shop Supply Inc." Another on my "must buy" list now is Rodders Journal as its become available in some Central London newsagents for just £8. Magazines don't get better than this (though I understand there are plenty of high quality Japanese publications too.)

Can you not get an international subscription? I have! ;D Mr.Scrapingscrap (utterpiffle) sorted it for me, I think he did it online. Regarding other mags, I get CC on subscription and pick up various domestic titles at my local market about two months late (price: 3 for £2!), occasionally I buy current stuff at Smiths (if an RR car is featured or if me/my car is in it!). I used to get quite a few Euro VW mags (super VW, VW scene, VW WOB!) but these days the UK mags cover the Euro scene quite well anyway (a few years ago there were no euro Polos or T25s in the UK). Obviously I have quite a few J mags passing through my grubby hands, some of which are ending up with RR members! Expect some new ones soon, there's some REALLY good stuff on it's way! Which do I prefer? The Japanese stuff I think, especially the newer ones which cover various scenes - my favourite title is probably: Which translates as Custom Car, I think the mix of old and new inside makes it really interesting, although some people might not enjoy the late-model HiAce scene as much as me! Everyone needs at least one copy of Enjoy! Retro Car too!

What Rmad said except for the Oz mags ,.. I've also got BilSport Retro Car from Sweden, which is great... friend who travels all over the world picks me up magazines when he can, usually just normal classic car mags though.
I REALLY want a copy of Motoraver from German.

Yeah I remember looking through all the build stuff and probably with it rolling complete around in a workshop/ show setting but not out on the road where it belongs.
