I've been toying with dipping my trekker shell.... It's caked in latex underseal that is an absolute nightmare to remove So...I'm also interested in hearing prices and +/- points

removes some of the metal to lighten the shell a bit. Ergo, it will weaken it a bit. Was a famous trick done to get an advantage for "stock" car racers back int the day. I guess if you acid dip something the size of a Galaxie you can shed a fair amouind of weight just taking 0.5mm of the metal away! Those "Stockers" all ran with cross braced cages in them anyway.

Its expensive Its a nightmare if you don't get it cleaned and prepped right or straight away Only company I would recommend is called "surface proccessing ltd" google them, they have a website They do pretty much all the top race and rally shells, but it is not cheap They will strip clean and etch/phosphate the shell ready for you to go play with/paint Other option is Soda Blasting which Is what I will probably have done on the Kadett and Fiat if I keep it

Other option is Soda Blasting which Is what I will probably have done on the Kadett and Fiat if I keep it On the commodore I'm planning to soda blast the panels - doors wings bonnet bootlid and roof This will be timed for a morning in the trailer shot blast the rest of the shell - floorpan door shuts underside inner wings and engine bay This will be same day in the afternoon (Mainly cos the shot blast is way too coarse for the body panels) Then the following day paint the whole thing (might be powdercoated as an alternative)
