has anyone out there turned there own wheel nuts I need to make some sleeved nuts for some revolutions does any one know what high tensile hex bar would be correct for the job and where to get it cheers

Hate to be a buzzkill, but if you need to ask questions like that, i don't think its a good idea
Look around online, do some research and it might hold the answer. You look for

They're really not that expensive to buy.
Mister Tee would probably do them and I know Midland Wheel services supply revos and keep the appropriate nuts in stock

Making you own wheel nuts is just asking for trouble they are the only thing keeping the wheels in place and keeping your car on the tarmac, is it really worth taking a risk?

You look for why if I need to ask a question like that its not a good idea, my dad turns stuff for me on his lathe he was not sure what strength metal to use or where to buy it. i have looked on line and get all sort of answers like wheel nuts are just mild steel, but i don't think so I just thought id ask if anyone had made there own before on here and what there out come was. here,s the quick mock up out of mild steel    I will try mistertee cheers for the link but the wheels I have, have a lot of meat on them where the wheel nuts go through and need to be long and the rears still need to be 20mm longer than the mock up wheel nuts in the pic to take spacers ive not been able to find any that long to buy |

Tell your insurer you intend using "homemade" wheel nuts and see what they say before progressing with the idea further ! Tell you father he will be the "manufacturer" so if one of his items fails then any victim / damage will be claimable against his liability insurance. If no insurance then be prepared to be sued.
Sorry to scaremonger but that is the reality of such DIY items so you need to know.

You don't need longer nuts, you just need longer studs on the hubs. Grayston make a range of long wheel studs, most of which are available from rally design.

Paul H no one seem to batter an eye lid when people put the wrong pcd wheels with wobble wheel bolts on what do the insurance say about them I would never do anything like that also the holes in my wheels are a weird size cant seem to find and sleeved nuts with the size I need |

Just because somebody does something doesn't mean it's right for everybody else to do the same ! So if somebody fits different PCD wheels with wobble bolts then it's their responsibility to inform their own insurers. If they don't then isn't carte blanche for everybody else not to inform insurer. Yes the risk of such homemade bolts failing is slim, however, but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Just save up the pennies and buy the proper things. At least then they will be plated / stainless so won't rust like the homemade items ! Paul H |

what about using a spacer with them I wanted the bolt to go through the spacer to keep it central Smaller holes in the spacer to centralise it to the studs? |

iam willing to buy them if I can but at the moment hit a brick wall with finding ones with 17.25mm sleeve and I was always going to use longer studs with these wheel nuts aswell hopefully mistertee will be able to help

right he sells 3/4" sleeved nuts at 26mm long the rear wheels are already this bore so can open out the front ones to this. the revolutions I have, are about 50mm thick where the sleeve sits in so if ive got 45mm studs on the front. the nuts would be around 20mm on the thread does this sound ok for these type of nuts also on the rear with 20mm spacers I would get 65mm studs with the nuts being around 20mm on the thread. I really wanted long sleeved nuts to go all the way down and give me a gap of around 5mm on the thread to the hubs that's the only reason I was going to make them as I cant buy them.
please can any one who runs these sort of nuts on there car give me an idea of how much theres screw on cheers

Most nuts sold as being for Revolution wheels have an 11/16" sleeve, which is 17.46mm. SN29 for 7/16 UNF: www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4646SN30 for M12x1.5: www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4647Had you investigated MisterTee's product pages and Grayston's website, you would have been able to find this out for yourself - with the exception of the conversion of 11/16" to metric, which is a simple google search away.  EDIT: FWIW, the Revo nuts from Grayston are 30mm long. EDIT2: IIRC, a rough rule of thumb is that you need 1.5x the thread diameter engaged. So if they are M12 (12mm diameter) then you need 1.5x12 = 18mm engaged. 20mm should be fine, but if not there'll be someone along to correct me. Finally, sleeve nuts don't self-centre to the extent that taper nuts do - make sure you nip up the nits before putting any weight on the wheel, or they'll wobble horribly due to being off-centre. |

ive looked but like I said the holes in me wheels are odd sizes I can bore the front wheel out to 11/16 and use 35mm long nuts that mistertee sells but the holes in the rear wheels are bigger so can only use 3/4" at 26mm long
