Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I'm struggling to get to grips with the search function on here Its a simple enough question. Can you get chrome plastidipped without having to rub it down etc? Id really like to de-chrome my car, but I would like to be able to revert back to the chrome finish if I ever wanted to. I thought about buying more parts to get painted and keeping my chrome stuff stored safely, but its not easy stuff to find and is prohibitively expensive

I do worry about people sometimes, it would have taken about 5 minutes extra effort to mask that BMW up propperly lol.
Could be a good use for Plastidip though, if you don't like it, just take it off!

Hmmm.... My head is now filled with how a white Herald will look with orange Dolomite Sprint wheels painted with this stuff... I just wonder how easy it'd be to wash brake dust and other road curse word off the textured surface without damaging it.

Ive heard of a lot of people using it on wheels and not heard of any problems. i think my main concern would be the same as any wheel finish such as paint or powder coat, and that is how on earth do you stop the wheel nuts taking the paint / powder off the wheels when you tighten them up?

You never put a coating on mating surfaces. It'll soften and lift and whatever was meant to be tight will no long be. Tightening nuts shouldn't cause issues as they'll not be touching it.
I've looked into it and on wheels it should be fine. You can even paint over the stuff but it makes it a lot stiffer and harder to remove. Now it's just a case of finding a source selling it at a decent prise and getting my tyres replaced beforehand.

so how do you stop the wheel from rusting where the wheel nut seats? every set of wheels i have had has been covered where the wheel nut seats from the factory and it hasnt come off when bolting wheels up.
