Has his estate complted probate? If so then you need to buy it from the beneficiary. If its still in probate then you'll need to wait I expect. If its in probate speak to the solicitor dealing with it.

Just get anyone who's handwriting is differant to yours to sign it, DVLA don't keep records of sigs, done it untold times.

Just print the name in the "signature" box. I've left it blank tonnes of times - it's only really referred to if there are problems.

The V5 is only an indication of the registered keeper. It is not an indication of who "legally owns" the vehicle. You need a receipt or bill of sale for that.

+1, no need to try to falsify anything. I did this when my dad died and I had his car.
+1 for this as well, really depends on your relationship with whoever the cars ownership went to. Good family relationship then no problem, only trouble would be if anyone raised it later on and made a claim to it.

Make sure you get a reciept from whoever has the power of atterny for your grandmother & you should be ok. Fully understand the paying for it thing though, stops any funny business from the greedy family members that seem to come out of the woodwork when family members pass.

Just apply for a logbook, dvla will write to the current keeper who has 6 weeks to respond if they suspect the sale is dodgy, which is not the case here. They will issue you the logbook before that time and the car will be in your name, job jobbed.
