;D ;D ;DJust spoke to my brother who is looking after my 1981 200 Mercedes Benz. Car had done 206k km with my dad from new, never a clutch plate, etc. Brother has had it replaced, along with thrust (or is it release ) bearing. Parts = £105.00 Labour - £35.00 ;D 3rd party, fire and theft on the car will be around £7.00 per month. I do like the idea of owning my "RETRO" in Africa.

The parts are the top of the line ( ??) patern parts according to the mechanic and my brother who is a great motorhead as well. The labour is a sin..... as the gearbox has to be dropped.

Scary labour prices Thats about half an hour at most dealers over here now, except I don't think they charge in half hour intervals anymore thats amazingly cheap labour, and I wish my insurance was that cheap!! the clutch in the 306 has done 186,000miles and doesnt feel iffy yet, cable is abit shat though. (i bet it breaks tomorow now I have said this) That was the mileage my old 306 had on it when I had to chuck a new clutch in.

I had my new car serviced at Mercedes today, and asked the service guy, he reckoned the labour on the job would be around £450
