A few thoughts on nominations below, with a little justification....on some I couldn't decide so put two... Website: www.austin-rover.co.uk OK, so a little random and probably not what you'd expect from a BMW owner...BUT- It's really well written by a totally dedicated nutcase sorry enthusiast and is very comprehensive. Its also a great source of obscure pictures! Sites like this for other marques would be a very good thing... Best Magazine.... Has to be Retro Cars really - it's just blown everything else out of the water - the attitude is spot-on! Best Car: Had difficulty deciding on this one - it's either John Beardmore's Minor or the Danny Allen Golf. Both are exceptional stand-out cars in their own special ways. Best show: OK so I didn't get to many, but the best day had to be Retro Cars @ Santa Pod. Good atmosphere, good racing and minimal buffers!! Best Gallery: Retro Cars Show - well it was the one that sucked me in and made me become a member.... Best Pic: For me this is the Silver Lotus Cortina stegging round the banking at Montlhery (Scraping Scrap) - it just sums up what RR is all about! ( www.retro-rides.com/images/gallery/364286.jpg ) Car bloke: Another I couldn't decide... Either Simon Wooley for his work on Retro Cars...or...David Murphy (WHO? ). I'm not kissing ass here, it's just RR wouldn't be here were it not for you... Forum Person....I'd like to nominate Rmad Simon...He's always friendly and ready to share his (vast) technical knowlege with everyone, either on the board or PM... So there you go... I'm sure others will be thinking the same... but some will probably be pretty obscure..... If you chuck in some boobie prize nominees..... Practical Classics for becoming poo, and that Bandwidth Nutter Guy Richard...he gets Dickhead of the year ;D ;D

So your nominations please, in the following categories : Best Website* Best Magazine Best Car Best Show/Event Best Retro-Rides.com gallery Best Picture in Retro-rides.com gallery Car Bloke/Bird of the year Forum person of the year Thank you, -David *You can't nominate www.retro-rides.com Best Magazine - has to be Retro Cars of course! As NickB said, all other magazines have become insignificant since it came out - I've even stopped reading Mini Mag / Mini World because of it (after 8 years of reading!) Best Car - Not sure if this is best car on the forum, or just the best car?? Anyway, best forum car I think has to be Kyteler's Skyline. If it's best overall car I think it should be Beardmore's Minor. Best Retro-Rides.com gallery Retro Car Show 2004 Best Picture in Retro-rides.com gallery - has to be this: www.retro-rides.com/gallery.asp?issubmitted=displayimage&imageid=760&folder=34 from the Wheels Tour this year - taken by ScrapingScrap Forum person of the year Has to be HoTWire - we're not worthy, we're not worthy - in your best Wayne's World manor!

and that Bandwidth Nutter Guy Richard...he gets Dickhead of the year ;D ;D He was also the subject of my greatest rant of the year, sent directly to his inbox, even longer than the rants I put up on this forum! Aaaaah memories! ;D ;D ;D (although I was thinking of nominating his website for the best website award! ;D ;D ;D) As has been said before, the best mag is Retro Cars, and if we needed a silver medal, then Practical Performance Car.

I love lists, me. Here goes: Best site: www.beardmorebros.co.uk. When we were trying to get Retro Cars off the ground, this was my inspiration. Best mag: Garage. It's a US title covering the seedier side of Hot Rod culture and the photography is spot-on. Best car: Peter Englezo's Fiat 600D. I know it's been around for a while, but I'd give anything to have a run in it. Best show: Retro Cars Show. Nuff said. Best Retro-Rides gallery: RCS again. Some of the pics were better than ours... Best gallery pic: Vans by night. www.retro-rides.com/gallery.asp?issubmitted=displayimage&imageid=318&folder=25. Moody and ever so slightly illegal. Retro bloke of the year: Barry Lee. Becuase he still lives the pledge. Forum person of the year. Mr Murphy. Because he's nice. Arfur

Quite difficult, this! Best Website: Hmm. There are quite a few that I can think of, but the one site that has done more for me than any other has to be www.vw-page.at/ . The picture galleries in there are updated all the time, and were the main driving force behind me getting to the Woerthersee Tour this year! I love that website and the people that contribute to it. Just a shame my German isn't very good... Best Magazine: Retro Cars. PPC is more technical but I love the balance of RC. The 'ten of the best' always gets me thinking, and the articles are always interesting and informative. Great work! Best Car: The Beardmore Minor. No arguement! Best Show/Event: The Retro Car show. Can't wait til next years! I was going to nominate Woerthersee but haven't because the RCS was much more of a pleasant surprise - I went not expecting much and came away unable to believe the quality of the cars that turned up! Best Retro-Rides.com gallery: ScrapingScraps Montlhery gallery. Great cars, great photography. Best Picture in Retro-rides.com gallery: www.retro-rides.com/images/gallery/61455.jpg - ScrapingScrap again. I love this pic, it was my desktop wallpaper for ages! Car Bloke/Bird of the year: Do I have to nominate one person? I'd really like to nominate these guys: www.ukmotorsport.com/rogeralbertclarkrally/rac2004whoswho.htmFor organising what looks to be a fantastic event. I'll reconsider and add a single nomination at a later date! Forum person of the year: RMad - for his technical advice and enthusiasm!

Best Website: Has to be Busselecta...it's just so well done. Best Magazine: I have to admit I do still look forward to Custom Car more than Retro Cars, especially with their recent bigger issue. Retro Cars is still a must-buy though! Best Car: Gotta be John's Minor! Best Show/Event: RCS was a great day for me...all those cars that previously sat on the fringes of various scenes finally found a home, and the Cressida behaved impeccably on the day too! Best Retro-Rides.com gallery: Probably Darren's Wörthersee Tour set, because I love those Euro motors! Best Picture in Retro-rides.com gallery:www.retro-rides.com/images/gallery/423534.jpg I must confess I was going to choose one of my own until I remembered this one of Darren's! Car Bloke/Bird of the year: Brian Burrows. Those of you that don't know of him might well say 'who?' but in the VW scene this man is a legend. Over on 'his' Volkszone forum he proved himself time and time again to be one of the good guys. Forum person of the year: I'd have to say David (HotWire), as we wouldn't be here (on the forum!) without him and also for his organisational skills - being on the RR stand at RCS was a major factor in my enjoyment of the day. Cheers David! I want to mention RatDat too as he constantly amazes me with the depth of his knowledge (not just Datsuns by the way!), his 510 isn't too bad either!.

Best Website - www.youngtimer.deBest Magazine - As Retro Cars Magazine has already been nominated a number of times I'd say Classic and Sports Cars, well written diverse interesting read. Best Car - Rmad's Cressida, because it shows without spending a lot of money you can have a fantastic car. Best Show/Event - Retro Cars Show, speciifically the Retro-rides stand, one of the best weekends I've had this year. Best Retro-Rides.com gallery - Christophs Motlhery photos : www.retro-rides.com/gallery.asp?folder=36Best Picture in Retro-rides.com gallery - For almost entirely personal reasons : www.retro-rides.com/images/gallery/843609.jpgCar Bloke/Bird of the year - Gotta go with Simon on this one again he has left Mr. Wager a hard act to follow. Forum person of the year - DarrenW for all the photo hunting and thread starting. I also want to give a nod to the artist formerly known as 1380Checkm8 (iRocco) for being one of the first people to offer to help out, your both stars.

Tried to put in some nominations not already mentioned... Website - www.ebay.co.uk (so very easy to lose several hours looking at stuf you cant really afford, justify or have space for Magazine - I'm not convinced by Retro Cars. In no.1 or 2 they were talking about putting in polycarbonate windows, and using washing up liquid for the seals- that put me off... I do enjoy a read of Top Gear occasionally, for the writing rather than the reviews or anything. Car - RR Forum car: 104ZS's 104Zs (not really my kind of thing i thought (french!), but its great- a proper retro ride and one I would love to own myself) / 'Real World' car:Ben Leach's Mk1 Golf Syncro Show/Event - Big Bang was the best show I went to this year, although i didnt make that many Gallery - Teretonga Clubmans Meet 26th September 2004 - full of interesting looking cars i've never seen before Picture - Car person of the year - Richard Porter, ok so he doesnt think much of the beetle, or retro cars in general, but he did a great interview. Forum person of the year - REVOLUTION #9 (I don't think there is a thread on here without some contribution from him!)

I'm having loads of trouble thinking of nominations that haven't already been said. Best site - www.imps4ever.info (where do you think I get all those Imp related pics from? ) Best Mag - There's no dispute, it's Retro Cars! Best car - It's still John Beardmore's mental Moggie! Best Show/Event - The Jury's still out, I haven't been to many lately Best Gallery - That'd be the one from the "Teretonga Clubmans Meet", and not just becuase of that nice Imp and the freaky Anglia! Best Pic - Not sure why but I kind of love this one! Car bloke of the year - Tony Blair for bringing the whole modified classics movement in the UK together in wishing he'd curse word off and leave us alone! Forum Person - Hotwire for starting the forum and giving us all a place to waste all our free time! ;D ;D ;D
