Hi chaps.... Firstly, please forgive my ignorance over all things modifying....The closest I've ever come to modifying a car is fitting alloy wheels and a spoiler! Some of You may have seen this in Readers' Rides.... ....Which Slater kindly transformed into this.... Now, I'd love to try and achieve this look, but have no idea how to go about it....I'd like it lowered, and on some 13", wide, dished, steel wheels, maybe like those You'd find on a sporty Mk1 Escort or Cortina....And maybe even with chrome hubcaps too....I think that'd look great! Does anyone know if it can be done? Could it be achieved at a reasonable cost....Bearing in mind I only paid £200 for the car in the first place? I'd appreciate any advice any of You would care to give! ;D

nice 11 you got there . I got the original yellow twin headlights you got on your photchopped picture . may part with them for the right offer.
suspension would be torsion bars at the back and mc pherson type shocks and springs at the front .

Qwerty had a slightly rotted R9/11? turbo he was trying to sell, did it sell? cos that could be very useful here.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

not a Renault 11, a Renault Encore! and a Renault Alliance from this excellent gallery: www.pbase.com/mwphotothese cars competed in the Champion Spark Plug Challenge, the main requirement appears to be that the cars would become future autoshite (323's, us escorts etc, odd U.S. Renaults)

Could be a very simple and inexpensive job. I'm guessing that they are 4x100mm PCD, in which case look on ebay for some old Chevette alloys (an ebay search for Compomotive or Revolution usually turns up something) or if you don't mind spending a little bit extra go for some Golf/Polo euro-look rims (the same as the Chevette rims, but with 'scene tax'). Lowering shouldn't be too hard either, are they coils on the front and torsion bar on the rear? If that's the case then lop some coils out the front and turn/wind the back down (although I've never done any Frog-car torsion bar drops, so someone else might know more on that subject).
Job done, and you could easily still have less than £500 invested, including the car.

There was a Renault U.S-backed racing series for the Alliance back in the '80s (I know this 'cos S.L gave me an article about it on Saturday! )....Must've been quite a sight, witnessing 50 R9s all barrelling into the first corner....Racing lines regularly involved the use of the roof apparently!

Best I try and establish the PCD of the wheels for sure....Is that something I can measure myself? Sorry to be so dim....

Love the first pic you posted RetroMat, you and Baz could re-enact it.
Having seen this car in the flesh when we collected it Saturday night I can testify as to how straight the paint and body appear, so with wheels and lowering it really would have quite an impact.
The same recipe would work on the Accord, though the rear arches really need sorting first. Someone buy that gold one for <£250 and do something with it! There’s a fair bit of decent stuff from this era floating around right now, I’d love to see more of it get into the right hands and receive this simple-but-effective treatment.

pcd is measured from the centre of one bolt to the centre of the bolt on the opposite side, quite easy to get a clue what pcd it is, as there arent THAT many to choose between
