Yup, Triumph senders are garbage these days! On my Stag I could never get a reliable temperature gauge reading. If I kept the car I would have got a mechanical gauge to do away with the electric curse word!

I've recently been in contact with a couple of friends who are starting their own car based photography magazine. and not too long ago they came to my house to do a photoshoot, to say i was excited about the final product was an understatement and after only a few weeks they said they had finished the first issue of the magazine. They've also just launched their website spokemagazine.uk/ and are looking to do articles for people who are willing, only a spare couple of hours out of your day. Wow ! She became beautiful ! are you not affraid to use her now ? Wish i had the patience to be so thorough in a rebuild. Why go to all the trouble of making it work if you're not going to thrash it a little? i'm a strong believer in people using cars they have restored and enjoying them. the reason we painted it with rust preventative paint is so that it won't rust when put on salty roads. and i've gone through the engine/driveline top to tail to make sure it'll work in even the raciest of conditions!

The Spit looks amazing, I can only hope my MGB will look as nice once I'm done with it! I'll have to have a read back through your thread again as I'm busy researching paints to use to preserve the chassis as well as I can

I'll have to have a read back through your thread again as I'm busy researching paints to use to preserve the chassis as well as I can Not knowing long term i can't advise much but i'd recommend the bilt hamber hydrate 80 www.bilthamber.com/paints-and-coatings/hydrate-80Went on well and has given basically no sign of rust on some test metal i painted about a year ago, so good i'm currently using it to repair the doors on my fathers defender. there isn't a steel application i wouldn't use it on to be honest.

So the last three months have been rather smooth sailing for the little triumph. Being used on a regular basis has done the car a world of good in soorting it's squeaks and rattles. A few things have become apparent from regular use, the left rear brake is binding a bit so that'll need adjustment, and the diff is very worn, shouldve shimmed it while it was out of the car but never got around to it. Also the right rear brake light cluster is very temperamental so i think the bulb holders are a bit naff. but we got out to do a nice run around sussex and get some filming done today, i've only got the preliminary photos but the finished article will be out soon and seeing the shots that go into making it i'm massively excited. Friends MGB that is part of the article Prepping the cars and radios before setoff Nice shots of us doing drone drive-by's in parham Parked up and discussing routes and filming ideas Lunch stop at Dell quay Up on the hill near goodwood racecourse Parked up on the drive back in steyning retro fest! Up the top of the local 'mill hill' very scenic and a dead end road leading to just a few houses so very quiet at this time of evening And a nice shot at sunset What an awesome way to spend a sunny day, blasting around sussex B roads in two inexpensive sports cars.

I was just wondering what your technique was for cutting/polishing your paint job?
I've sprayed mine in cellulose but it was a little orange peely. What steps did you follow and what kind of machine did you use for the polishing?

Cheers :-) used a rubber sanding block and some fine grit paper (find a local paint wholesale place for that) and i used some fareclay coarse cut, then some fine cut polish on a foam pad attached to a rotary polisher (mop) to get it dead flat, the hard rubber pad helps to get a flat surface when wetsanding. don't be intimidated if it sounds like a lot of kit to buy as i got all of my stuff fairly cheap off ebay. if you're only using the thing twice a year it doesn't have to be top dollar.

So a little update on the spitty ans it's been far too long. Being daily driven and a few little things have popped up, the indicator stalk switch gave up the ghost so i've cobbled it back together and it works again, that allowed it to sail through it's second MOT since restoration, no advisories which is nice. it needs some sound deadaning fitted and the interior needs re-doing at tome point, as does the suspension, it's all a bit worn out so when spring rolls around i'll get to it! Been involved in umpteen other projects as is always the case, karts, mini bikes, cars, vans, classics, moderns... you name it. keeps my hands busy and the wallet full i suppose!

been a good while since the last updade as winter set in and made the car less practical, In order to celebrate it's 40'th properly i've devised a proper finish off before the last of the summer sun goes away. including a bit of work on Differential - Lash in the diff became audible when pulling away so another was sourced, rebuilt unit from a friends garage. Sound deadening - Bangs and rattles are a plenty in the car as i never put down any sound deadening, so i'll grab some and fit it when the interior is being rebuilt. Dash tidying - Wiring was fitted in a hurry and things are starting to dangke down and become an issue, so plenty of cable routing and refitting Rear spring rebuild - bushings are on the way out all around so a new kit will be bought and the spring refreshed Brought the car round from it's lockup and i'm glad i gave the car a proper wash seal and wax before we stored it, whip over with quick detailer and it's perfect again Then it was up on stands, a few bolts removed and presto! New one on the way!

So photobucket have decided to update what you're allowed to do with their free photo hosting services and basically are now requesting £400 for normal free service that i've been using for 8+ years. groan. time to swap to another image hosing site, any suggestions?

Hi, just been reading your thread, impressive!
Hopefully the Compomotive CXs won't give you too much grief getting them on. The 5 spokes would look good too but I'm guessing the wheel adapters are about 25mm - 30mm and push them out too far?
Very smart.

What a gorgeous little Spit stellar resto you've done on yours as well. Started reading the thread and was thinking 'this all feels very, very familiar', except I went down a bit of a different path. Only yours is running and driving now and mine's still in the garage
