Do these count as retro electronic gadgets? Got 'em in everything! Maplins were doing a lot of those add on "projects" quite recently. They might still have them? I think that goes beyond retro. I'm thinking of getting rid of mine for something slightly more modern!

Would quite like a CB radio, need everyone to have them for those retro convoys! Thats the idea actually, cant beat watching peopes faces when a mate radios from ahead that the road is clear so you fly past them on a tight blind bend

I still kinda want to hook up a cb radio. completely useless really but I can always pretend i'm in a 70s cop show! Would be interested myself in learning how to do a lights on warning buzzer, I'm extremely forgetful! I did myself one of them, I'm curse word at cars, but fairly ok with electrics. you just need to use an ignition switched power supply (i used radio) to power a 12v relay, and use the relay to switch a buzzer hooked up to something on the lighting ciruit (i used dash lights) only a few quid to do, and doesn't take long either. just need to make sure the relay is the right way around, which you can normally see as it's got a trransparent cover so you can see the mganets and switch inside! All i did was take a live from the intrument lights and feed it to a buzzer. I then took an earth from the doors interior light switch and took that to the buzzer. If the lights are on and you open the door... bzzzzzzzzzz

Wow... there's some memories... when I was a nipper, one of my Mum's work colleagues gave me loads of electronics mags from the 60s and 70s, they're still in her attic Everyday Electronics is definitely in the collection among others, they've got all sorts of weird and wonderful projects. This guy built a computer from scratch, a Nascom I think it was called, I had a go on it once, tried to put a game in, that consisted of literally pages and pages of '34 A2 BE 2F 56 79 9A' to enter (raw machine code). Of course it didn't work due to typos, and there's no idea where you went wrong after umpteen pages of numbers Now I'm feeling old 'cos this was the early 80s, when half of you weren't even born...
