To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

LMAO @ Jimmy Saville.
I love sh!t like this. But I seldom fit it to my car because you end up with one of those accessory laden junkheaps you see at shows where the owner has bought every single possible period accessory and fitted them all. Its the 1950s/60s/70s/80s version of the lad who ram raided Halfords with superglue all over his Nova/Saxo...
I have some awesome tat, much of it new boxed which I bought before things got too crazy (and will propbably sell most of it off at some point as whats the point of a collection in the attic in boxes?)
Anyway I had a real thing for automatic cigarette ligters. I have a few and my best one is Japanese made for the USA Market c.1970 and you fill the big chrome hopper with fags and as you are driving press a button and whir, click, clunk, a lit fag drops into a little tray thing at the bottom so you can light up on the move "safely". Its called a Safe-T-cig-omatic or something like that.
I also have a new, boxed, Lucas "Lights on Sentinal" which puts you rlights on automatically when it gets dark, its about 1963
I recently bought a 1980s aftermarket anti knock system. Fit it to your car and it somehow retartd the ignition if it "heards" the car pinking. Sadly it came without fitting instructions.
I love stuff like the Redex Car Car Robot just for the name.
I have a ton of stuff.

I still kinda want to hook up a cb radio. completely useless really but I can always pretend i'm in a 70s cop show! Would be interested myself in learning how to do a lights on warning buzzer, I'm extremely forgetful! I did myself one of them, I'm curse word at cars, but fairly ok with electrics. you just need to use an ignition switched power supply (i used radio) to power a 12v relay, and use the relay to switch a buzzer hooked up to something on the lighting ciruit (i used dash lights) only a few quid to do, and doesn't take long either. just need to make sure the relay is the right way around, which you can normally see as it's got a trransparent cover so you can see the mganets and switch inside!

Do these count as retro electronic gadgets? Got 'em in everything! Maplins were doing a lot of those add on "projects" quite recently. They might still have them?

i love the look of the old gadgets, but have to be honest, mines getting a state of the art in car pc and decent sound system, cant live without quality sounds, it does tend to be retro 70's and 80's music though which must sound strange to the base head chavs.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.
