went out in it for something and for curiosity
tried the heat
it worked???!?!?!?!?!?!?!
so - its no either the wiring or the switch
how can i test the switch without buying another?
cant consult manual cos don't get it till friday
gonna speak to auto electrician about the wiring too
hope its cheap lol

Are you sure it's not a problem with the circuit somewhere? If the circuit is getting completed somewhere before it gets to the heater, it won't work. Try checking that it's earthed and that the wiring to / from the heater unit isn't damaged or perished. Best to check it out before binning the heater unit. A bit of wire is a lot cheaper!! I had a lot of problems like this when I had my Estelle, I finished up re-wiring a hell of a lot of the car in the end...

Are you sure it isn't a bit of German over-engineering? Perhaps there is some device that stops the heater being switched on when the engine is cold (as it'd only blow cold air anyway until the coolant is warmed up). Maybe you could try putting it on a cold setting and turning it on when the engine is cold to see if it comes on... It might sound a bit random but I can't see any other way that engine temp would affect the operation of the blower

its either the switch or the motor
got a manual off ebay for 2 quid
gonna look at that
warm air still comes thru vents so not hypothermia yet lol
