Got it booked for 2:00pm.
Wish me luck please! Emissions are the only bit that really worries me at the moment (I've changed everything else ;D).

Good luck with it! If the MOT tester is friendly enough you might be able to get him to lean it out whilst on the gas tester. But then again it might not need it. Let us know the result!  |

Good luck old chap. Make sure you give some beans on the way to the test centre ( blows all the carp out ! ) .....Italian tune up on a German car ...works wonders...  |

Problem is... the MOT centre is only about 500 metres down the road  Also, my mum has to drive it and she refuses to rev any car above 3000rpm (I swear shes the only Impreza Turbo driver who's never used the turbo ). |

Rag it up and down the drive a few times then. Know what you mean about driving around off boost, my Mum does it with her Golf Tdi....whenever I get to drive it ( rarely ) you get a MASSIVE cloud of soot when you give it some welly for the first couple of times, then it clears up ! Anyway, good luck, even if it DOES fail, its unlikely to be much, and they're very simple cars to sort...as you know.  |

It passed!!!
Emissions were okay it appears.
CO: Max=3.500 Actual=0.192 (very low?)
HC: Max=1200 Actual=1057 (running a bit rich?)
Also:
Exhaust System slighty deteriorated (missing centre rubber probably)
Nearside front tyre worn close to the legal limit (spare is a goodun so I'll swap it on).
Oil leak (from filter where I changed it)
General underbody corrosion (not too bad for an 18 yr old car though).

Nice one! Good feeling ain't it?! Those emissions look about right to me for a carbed motor, but it might be worth taking it somewhere for a tune-up... or waiting until someone on here can give you a more precise answer... |

Emissions are a doddle to pass for anything pre-cat (1992).... my 1991 polo used to pass a catalyst-style test with a decat pipe on! The targets are fairly easy to hit.... it's only when they intrduced different figures for different model cars (i.e. when I take the Mondeo in, they have to set the machine up for a 1996 1.8 Mondeo, and it 'knows' the right figures) that it becomes tricky, and a slight setup problem can have you failing over and over again. But congrats on the test, another year on the road |

:)Congratulations on the pass. It's running a little weak, if you were to richen the mixture to about 2%CO at idle the hydrocarbons would come down and the engine would probably run smoother too. . |
