Well, it's all in one colour at least...   This has taught me several things:- 1) Don't try to paint in the breeze. A tad difficult when, every time I went near the thing, a gentle zephyr would spring up; 2) I should leave painting stuff to the like of thems what know what they're doing I have a man to do things like that for me.....   |

I have a man to do things like that for me..... Don't'cha just hate some people? Anyway, at 14:20 this afternoon, Fritz, who'd sourced my rear lenses for me, mailed to say they'd arrived at his place and that he'd find a courier to get them to me today or tomorrow. At 15:27, I get an SMS from the courier saying he's on the way. I'm tracking him now, it's like watching Santa on radar!  That's gonna cost three quid. Oh, you'll note that Star City (sort of like Alton Towers but with more dirt), is temporarily closed. That'll be because it was razed to the ground last year, thus saving me a fortune.  |

"And why you want to borrow a knee tomorrow." By now she's slowly backing out of the room. "I need you to put your knee on one end of the new bumper whilst I slide the thingy in on the other side." She looks relieved. "That's okay, I can do that." "Thanks honey, goodnight." "Goodnight Daddy George." And so it was at 08:30 this morning, I undid two of the longest bolts on the planet, unclipped two clips, separated the breathers and power connection to the spots and, with a crash, the old bumper was off. I built the new one up off the car, spots and number plate being a lot easier to fit that way. It was lugged around the front and laid there whilst I sank a bottle of water and had a fag, contemplating. Couldn't believe how it went back together, lifted it up, pushed and everything slotted into place first time. I was just underneath, reconnecting the last of the spots when the knees hove into view. "I come to help now, Daddy George." "Good girl, get me a beer would you, please?" And that was that.   Pretty damn pleased with that and exterior looks respectable again. I still need to fit the new drivers window regulator that came in the last stash. Maybe in the morning. I don't need knees for that, just arms like a demented octopus. Cheers! |

We regularly hit 35°C here in summer, and -35°C in winter. I like real seasons, but the stifling summer heat is the worse. Sweating today just changing some lightbulbs in the garage. Beer doesn't always help the hydration process, but it definitely helps cooling down when you decide to take advantage of the AC.
I've nothing useful to add really. Car is looking good, thread is entertaining as always. Carry on.

I'd just like 'Z' to go with it. Anyway, I don't know about you lot, but when my vehicle doesn't look the way I want it, i.e. without smashed bumpers and lights, I tend to ignore it. Doesn't stop me driving it, but when it doesn't look as good outside as I feel inside, then my mojo drops and I think, hey, if it's filthy, well yeah, it's filthy. So, when the neighbour flitted over it with his polishing mop and I saw how well the bonnet came up and now I've fitted the new bumpers and lights, I've decided to give the outside a bit of TLC, Manila not being the kindest of environments. That being the case, I've just been online to the world famous Lazada.com.ph and ordered a shedload of Meguiar's stuff. Now, I know that some of you will have differing views of what thing does what best, but, I have two choices. 1) Go online and order Meguiar's, which will all come in one delivery, the alternative being, "Mr Sanchez's All in One Polish 'n' Wax, contains only finest Taal Volcanic Ash," or "Mrs Sanchez's Magic Wheel and Glass Cleaner, contains only finest Taal Volcanic Ash," which would all be delivered separately over the next seven months by men on bicycles. 2) Trawl around endless "Type R" accessory shops, maybe finding one item of each thing at a time, although this is unlikely. "No stock," and losing the will to live springs to mind. So, Meguiar's it is then. On hearing this, Tania, the smaller of My Little Bottle Openers, immediately volunteered to help. I thanked her and gently asked who would do anything higher than halfway up the doors. With a sneer, she explained that that's why we had Jay-Ann. I did wonder. Got clay bars, waxes, top dollar carbonara polishes, stuff for plastics, kit and caboodle coming. That should build up a healthy thirst. |

I think if the glass cleaner has volcanic ash in it, depending on the fineness, it could probably double as polish or clay bar, too.

In fact there's a guy sieving ash now just a few doors up, making render. If I'd taken a pot up, I could have made my own stuff. It's probably Pinatubo ash though, so may not be as good as Taal. |

Spending hours achieving a shine you can swim in is strangely satisfying to the introverted male mind. However doing that on something as large as a Range Rover is daunting! I doubt you would see either of the bottle openers after the first 8 hour stint.
I did my old black X358 in about 4 sessions and it wasn't bad to start with.

Of course I have a recipe. But it's a closely guarded family secret. The alternative to Carbonara was Cyrillic, but I can't speak that. As far as size in concerned, yes, it's a tad large, but actually is easy shape to clean. Even so, I can feel it being broken down into easy steps, panel by panel. One good thing here is 90% of roads are concrete (or nothing!), so no tar spots. If I can get the bonnet looking something like (although it's already a lot better), that'll be a big boost, so that's my first plan of attack. The rest of the panels are pretty good and I have a separate plan for the roof which is badly sun damaged. Don't worry, I'll not be relying on the Bottle Openers, as normal! |
