I've reverently purchased a mk1 golf 1983 diesel. Runs beautifully and Is pretty nippy however it had a slight diesel leak at the top of the pump.
I took the throttle arm off and the leak was coming from beneath it where it attaches to the governor arm I popped a new o ring on and thought that would be it.
When bolting the arm back on, the thread between the governor arm and throttle attachment snapped under hardly any pressure and there is now no thread left to attach the arm to. Also the pump is leaking at pretty much every available seal.
I've looked around for a replacement second hand pump but can't find any that match. Does anyone know what other pumps will be compatible? My part number is 068130107 j Its on a 1600 import 1983 diesel (will try to find engine code in the morning)
Any help or advice would be great
Thanks in advance

Did look at changing the lump. Seems cheaper to buy a new engine with a pump fitted then to buy the pump alone for some reason.
Does it not matter that the letter at the end is different on the eBay one?

Ok will have a look. Quite fancy a change for the 1.9 aaz anyway but not sure how much is involved just looking in to it.

Whereabouts are you? You can buy seal kits for the pump and I'm sure I've got a spare throttle shaft you can have. I've also got a pump.

Unfortunately I'm in Macclesfield. If you need the throttle shaft let me know, and I will send it to you.

Ok thanks, how much would i have to send to cover it?
Also does the shaft itself detach from the governer arm? Had a brief look but didn't try to seperate it.

Your pm only just showed up. Send me your address, just pay the post should be no more than a couple o' quid. Yes shaft assembly unhooks from governor arm, a bit fiddly sometimes to get back in.

Great help on the new part, matches up very perfectly. Thanks! Shame I'm still without my car due to the royal mails curse word service. Ordered my new seal kit last Friday lunchtime was dispatched pretty much straight away first class signed for service and I'm still waiting nearly a week later. Hoping its with me by tomorrow.

Swap the naff vw governor spring setup, for either the setup off a transit of Rover 220SD mechanical pump Singular stiff spring, rather than a congregation of various soft springs. The delivery valves off a Rover 220SD are the best I've ever seen from an OE pump too - zero shoulder on them whatsoever (the vw 1.6 coming second, very small shoulder)

Still waiting on the seal kit 10 days now so not bad for 1st class recorded As far as changing springs etc I'm just going to leave it all be. Was more than happy with performance economy etc before the problems so the same minus a diesel leak and with the back brakes free should make me a happy chap!

Think my postman must have fallen down a drain or something no post for 10 days despite having at least three things sent 1st class to me in that time. Royal Mail deserve to go bust if this is what they call service!

Spoke to Brickwerks yesterday and they've agreed to send a second one. Said that 10 days is too long. What's the betting they turn up together Monday?
