I've finally run out of my magic hand cleaner which leaves me this evening with filthy hands* What hand cleaner do you lot use? Do you recommend it? The stuff I had before was fantastic, small squirt, rub it in well, wash off with water, hands clean. It would cut through the toughest blackest grease and leave my hands completely free of it witha slight orange smell. *although technically I haven't run out yet, I left it at Seth's house but I'll need some more in the meantime

I've got some of the gritty swarfega in a squirty-pot tm. Tis even orange scented, so ner. Trouble is all my ckufing housemates keep using it as normal handwash...they'll learn yet.

Nah the stuff Seth has is really gentle, you can use it several times a day every day and it doesn't strip all your skin off. This is the last bottle of a crate of a test run that never made it to market but to be frank, I've never found a better hand cleaner and I'm really surprised the likes of Swarfega have never tried to make a better product.

There must be some sort of Orange smelling chemical on the market because orange flavoured cleaners are popping up everywhere. It all works and smells better than swarfega which has a really unpleasant smell if you use it too often in the bath... www.tkoorange.com/html/hand_cleaner.html

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Fairy liquid here too. Sugar added in dire circumstances.

until my morris agent did a bunk to NZ, I used to use morris momento, fantastic stuff. looks like semolina, not too gritty, and water based rather than oil base (like swarfega) so if you didn't get yer germans clean the first time, you can just stick 'em back in the pot for a second attempt. currently using some swarfega liquid scourer which name evades me. suprega, thats it, liquid sandpaper, and plenty cheap.

My scale of filthiness with the higher numbers being real, filthy grease or sommit.
1. Carex Handwash. Surprisingly good for most circumstances 2. Fairy - with sugar if necessary. 3. Proper handwash is the daddy really
Alternatives - Big Wipes from Halfords are a god-send for roadside tinkering although they don't get the worst stuff off. Best thing to come out of Halfords. Apart from their socket sets which are also fab.

Funnily enough I am running out of mine as well and was wondering what else to look for. I got some pretty good stuff from the people at the farm opposite £5 for 5 litres and its damn fine stuff but they cant get it any more. Cant remember the make but its a red beaded hand cleaner. I used to have some brilliant stuff years ago smelled and felt like marzipan and got your hands spotless no idea what teh name of it was though Fairy with sugar when I have run out of the good stuff. Screwfix do a half decent one in 1 litre tubs. Lava soap bars are pretty good for automotive use as well. Deb lime smells nice but is wibblepoo IMO. The best thing I have found for getting clean at work is Solopol its rough as curse word but ideal to remove graphite from you, and skin

I have a nightmare with oils on my hand, they literally fall to pieces a couple of days afterwards. So gloves are essential.
Although for those moments when " don't come near me with those " moments affect the old claws, then I reach for the swarfega.
